These anonymous 1/2 dirham struck under Abu al-Hasan are nearly identical to the previous Almohad silvers, except they replace the line "Al-Mahdi is our Imam" (المهدي امامنا) with "the Qur’ān is our Imam" (القرآن إمامنا) on the rev. This was likely a veiled reference to the Marinid refusal to claim the Almohad Caliphate as legitimate.
Known mints are Fès, Sabta, Sijilmasa and Tilimsan, but mintless types are much more common.
