There is debate about this type. HPM describes it as a ‘1/8 groot’ (⅛) or ‘penning’, just as Purmer in JMK (1996). Pannekeet and Teyler's list is as a ‘half dryverken’ (½) or ‘zes grootkens’ (6). Teyler's lists earlier years of this type, also ‘1/8 groot’ (⅛) or ‘penning’, though.
Even the date is not considered certain, since it is abbreviated. Pannekeet discusses that coins of the same type that bear the ‘year’ 55, might be struck in 1455, eventhough it would be quite early for city coinage. Also, the design wouldn't fit the timeframe. On the other hand, there is no record of a mint master in these 16th century years, apparently. In addition, some of these coins have a legend in Gothic style, which would is more likely an older style. Roest is also suggesting that this feature could mean an earlier production.
