THE SCHOONER "FLY"
B.1.
1840
Pianura
There are at least four medals in this “series”. They can be found in both silver and bronze.
The schooner, reportedly owned by William C. Boyd, is more commonly known for plying the Great Lakes (circa 1842) in the area of Owen Sound, Ontario.
Unfortunately, not much more information is available about the “Fly” after this reference, “The Fly -- owned by W.C. Boyd -- arrived in Sydenham (Owen Sound) in 1942 -- sold the next year - destination unknown.”.
None-the-less, there is this “much sought” Christmas card from 1947 which reports, "The Schooner FLY Leaving Toronto for Montreal, 13th May, 1840".
