The Philatelic and Numismatic Office of San Marino issues a collector’s set featuring both commemorative €2 coins in proof version.
The first commemorative coin is dedicated to Tintoretto, one of the greatest exponents of the Venetian school and the Italian Renaissance, and a precursor of Baroque art due to his dramatic use of perspective and light.
The coin’s obverse depicts the embrace between the Madonna and Elizabeth, a detail taken from the painting "The Visitation," housed at the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice.
The second commemorative coin celebrates Gian Lorenzo Bernini, one of the foremost figures of the Baroque era, whose influence extended across the European scene for over a century.
The coin’s obverse features the famous marble portrait “Bust of Costanza Bonarelli,” preserved at the Bargello Museum in Florence.
