Bonsoir Xavier,

Let me get this straight:
I want to support your venture - I guess you know this, I am writing this more to those who do not know.
I am also happy that you took the step-change of offering a premium account, and wish that a lot of folks will find the value in it ...
However, I am a bit confused about the benefits:
  1. Increase the storage for the pictures of your coins and banknotes to 10 GB
  2. Browse Numista without advertising
  3. Support Numista financially ❤️

NOW,
1. I do not store pictures = zero value,
2. Advertising, I appreciate, because it helps to establish values for my coins, ... NEGATIVE VALUE
3. I want to do this, but the rest unrelated I feel it is actually negative.

Can you come up with some ideas that are actually beneficial to join PREMIUM?

Cheers,
Imre

I do agree the ads add good extra info
Just call me Bram

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!
Cita2. Advertising, I appreciate, because it helps to establish values for my coins, ... NEGATIVE VALUE
I agree. Those ads are very useful. Probably the only time I'll say that about ads online.

Agreed sometimes when I’m searching for coin and banknote websites that isn’t Ebay for hours and come back with little to none results I just wait for the adverts to roll by and by magic the right website pops up.;)
Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.
Maybe to open a some type of donation to Numista? Or Patreon platform? For those who want to support Numista financially but don't store pictures and want to see ads. Just a thought.

Hello Imre and all,
I'm very happy to hear that you like the ads on Numista.
For the moment I can't think of any additional benefit for the premium account. And unless a new feature really justifies to be restricted to premium accounts only, I prefer to make it available to all.
Accepting donations is not an option because taxation is prohibitive (60% donation tax + 28% corporate tax).
For the short term, the only solution I can propose is to make the removal of ads optional (or maybe configurable based on the type of ads).
Just brainstorming about alternatives to donations: would anyone be interested to be able to pay more than the current price of the premium account and freely choose the amount?
Xavier, what are the operating costs to keep Numista up and running.

Dear Xavier,
YES in principle, but VERY NO since a couple of years. - and still not yet...

To elaborate on this:
I would be happy to contribute - not just huge efforts, which I have already made - but financial resources as well, into a website which functions as Numista does - kind of.
Though I have to admit that I am pleased and happy to see that MAJOR improvement has been made, just to mention a few: Rome (ancient) catalogue, Exonumia, banknotes, ruling authorities, clarifying a lot of sh..t in medieval coinage, etc. (and maybe a lot more which are unimportant to me, but might be major for others...)
- I still not feel comfy with Numista. I am not sure that this thing will survive.
simply because you bear no news, no info, no updates, no communication.

Maybe, I am biased by the fact that I am a leadership consultant, but still the so called "management" or "Numista Team" seems to me very random, not monitored, some take super-positive actions while some destroy stuff ... and all in all this results in an inconsistent, non-communicative management, which makes major contributors or dependents on Numista feel that they should export their collection to excel ever day.
It seems that you are still focusing on technical issues of your venture, which you are unquestionable a master of, and still lack leadership.

Just today a valuable team member has left due to some unknown reasons, while others, who I consider criminals of coin deletion are still respected and remain.
In short, what I think you need to get me in - and maybe others:

1) transparency: what is happening and why - who does what and why: a frequent and consistent communication of actions.
2) alignment: I wish to see that team members are going in the same - hopefully the right - direction. and I hate to see that one deletes the input of the other, just because he misunderstands the purpose of the site.
3) accountability: I am - personal opinion - not willing to pay extra for answers like "we are working on it, one day, it might be solved" type of answers... and then wait for about 3-4 years to the thing to happen.
I appreciate deadlines, accountability, and names to know, who run the show, so we can celebrate them, as well as, we can keep them accountable.

Having said that, I am still here and content. I think you could have been making this a cash-cow by applying some stuff earlier and engaging team members who have left due to misalignment.

I also have some concrete ideas of what could make a premium site work, but I guess it makes no sense till the major issues are solved.
Cheers and sorry for being honest,
Imre
Browsing through the forum which I did not do for while, I have found this post: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic108968.html
Xavier, are you ABSOLUTELY sure that these are the issues YOU, yourself should focus on?
... or maybe these can be delegated to a team member?
My apologies to mention this, but this is the kind of micromanagement barrier which keeps me away from investing into Numista.
Can't you delegate this issue to a talented team member?
--- my apologies for penetrating so much into your internal issues ...

Another example of total inconsistance: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic101830.html
poor guys seem to have no clue what to do: ... give them guidelines! - this shall be a digital: YES/NO question.

I'd be willing to support the site at an optional higher premium rate. I worry, however, that this thread sounds like it's turning towards thinking about Numista as some kind of lame tech startup rather than the very cool, voluntary, free, international resource that Xavier has managed to build and maintain for almost a decade and a half.

That's just me, though.
Hello Imre,

Thank you for your advice. I really appreciate it, even if I don't always fully agree you.
Communication and team management are definitely two points which I need to improve.

Coming back to the original topic, I would like to clarify my position about the premium account.
Making money out of Numista is not my priority. My objective is to make a great universal free numismatic catalogue and build a useful platform for exchanging numismatic knowledge and for the needs of collectors. Money is useful to run the website and if it can allow me to dedicate 100% of my working time to Numista or to hire people to improve Numista in line with this objective.
The premium account is an attempt to diversify the sources of revenue beyond advertising. I don't want to restrict information or basic functionalities to paying members only. I see the premium account as a way to accept donations and offer some benefits in return (and especially benefits that are difficultly compatible with a free model).
Is premium no longer available? I had a subscription, but no payment was withdrawn in April.
In fact I didn't need the features (with the exception of hidden advertising), but was happy to support the venture by payments of that size. But not very inclined to make larger donations.

There is an issue with debiting your credit card. I'll contact you via personal message.
