The only ruling authories for Malawi should be as follows;

Queen Elizabeth II - 1964 to 1966.

Republic - since 1966.

Hastings Kamuzu Banda should NOT be listed as a ruling authority - as Presidents & Prime Ministers should not be listed.

Agreed. He was dictator but that doesn't fit in with any other country's ruling authorities that I'm aware of.

Dictators are crazy & they love themselves too much.

Isn't that kinda the same "problem"/case as with Sierra Leone? Even though not being a dictator, Milton Margai wasn't the ruler, but Prime Minister. He appears on the coins, not Queen Elizabeth II.

The same with the First Republic; devided in two presidents. Shouldn't it just be "First Republic"?

Think those who added them, thought about the people featured on the coins, like Hastings Kamuzu Banda or Milton Margai

I think they should be changed to the "Dominion - Queen Elizabeth II" or something alike, and remove the republic people in the Sierra Leone catalough.

Sierra Leone became a republic in 1971, having been an independent Dominion from 1961.

Sir Milton Margai died in 1964, then was replaced by Sir Albert Margai as Prime Minister.

Sir Milton & Sir Albert were brothers.

It was Siaka Stevens who was a dictator from 1971 until 1985, when he retired.

Hastings Banda isn't even named on the coins - only his portrait & 'MALAWI'.

The same thing applies to The Gambia's coins from 1971 to 1994, which depict Sir Dawda Jawara - but not his name.

Did you not read this?

& this?

Hastings Kamuzu Banda should NOT be listed as a ruling authority.

We don't list Kwame Nkrumah as a ruling authority for Ghana either.
