New Zealand Dollars are legal tender on the Pitcairn Islands.
They don't use Pounds Sterling there.
Aidan.
But they're releasing coins with pound sterling face values. What currency should those go under then? “Unknown”?
Those need to go to exonumia. They're fantasy issues. There are few private companies (i.e. Koin club) that have no authority to issue legal tender coins and started producing these hoping to hook unaware people.
They are NCNLT - like those British Virgin Islands pieces commemorating Novosibirsk Zoo.
They are NOT authorised by the Pitcairn Islands Government!
Aidan.
There are quite a lot of Pences and Pounds there, we might need a clarification here. If they are really not-approved, then a lot should move to Exonumia.

I'm pretty sure they are authorised. There was another post about Pitcairn island coins, where I located some minutes from their government meetings, where they discussed getting “palace approval" for a Dennis the Manace coin, which is in pounds/pence:

Their official currency is new zealand dollar, but their laws just extend UK law, and they have no laws saying that the pound ceases to be legal tender, so it still will be.
I don't think we should base the decision based on the fact that a few members of the forum find it distasteful that a tiny island with barely any population will produce tacky coins for the profit of themselves and companies, and who assert without evidence that they're not legit.
Wiki points to Pitcairn law directly saying only Dollar pieces are legal tender: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitcairn_Islands_dollar

What about the literal minutes from a government council meeting? Clearly their government think they're legit … Wikipedia isn't always completely accurate.
