Hello!

Now I am trying to figure out Afghanistan.  x)

We are most certainly in need of more rulers, which I will list below, and I can provide any examples of the coins if needed (some have coins on Numista; some are listed on Zeno and I will add them after the ruling authorities are added).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To start, the headers we currently have are as follows:

  • Durrani dynasty
  • Barakzai dynasty
  • Habibullah Kalakani
  • Barakzai dynasty

What I would like to suggest:

  • Durrani dynasty (no change)
  • Barakzai dynasty >>> change to Emirate of Afghanistan
  • ADD: Kingdom of Afghanistan
  • ADD: Saqqawist Emirate
  • Barakzai dynasty (second one) >>> change to Kingdom of Afghanistan

(or perhaps no change needed; the list will just update accordingly and that one can be ignored)

Currently, under the Barakzai dynasty, we have some Durrani rulers; however, all these rulers collectively ruled the Emirate. Eventually, it turned into a Kingdom (the second reign for Amanullah, 1926-1929). And the ruler Habibullah Kalakani is the only ruler under the Saqqawist Emirate.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rulers to modify:

^ Looks like the titles should all be King (according to Wiki)

^ Looks like the title should be King.

^ Change reign to only 1803-1809 (the second reign was during the Emirate; title-change to Emir)

^ Name Dost Mohammad Khan, reign 1826-1839, 1843-1863

^ Name Sher Ali Khan, reign 1863-1866, 1868-1879

^ Name Mohammad Afzal Khan, reign 1866-1867

^ Name Mohammad Yaqub Khan

^ Name Abdur Rahman Khan

^ Name Habibullah Khan

^ Name Amanullah Khan

^ Move under Kingdom of Afghanistan, name Amanullah Khan

^ Move under Saqqawist Emirate, name Habibullāh Kalakāni

(not actually sure if accents are really necessary)

^ Reign 1929-1933

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rulers to add:

Durrani dynasty, Anonymous, Anonyme, King, circa 1757-1823

Durrani dynasty, Sulaiman Shah, Pretender, 1773

Emirate of Afghanistan, Habib Allah Khan, Emir, 1823

(mentioned here https://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dost_Muh%C3%A0mmad)
Emirate of Afghanistan, Sultan Mohammad Khan, Emir, 1823-1826, Q24288419
Emirate of Afghanistan, Shah Shujah Durrani, Emir, second regin, 1839-1842, Q457944

(Emir title of someone who was previously King)
Emirate of Afghanistan, Muhammad Zaman, Nawab, 1841-1842
Emirate of Afghanistan, Fath Jang, Emir, 1842
Emirate of Afghanistan, Shahpur Shah, Emir, 1842

(ruled for just a few weeks)
Emirate of Afghanistan, Wazir Akbar Khan, Emir, 1842-1843, Q983036
Emirate of Afghanistan, Interregnum, Period, 1866

(a few coins issued)
Emirate of Afghanistan, Mohammad Azam Khan, Emir, 1867-1868, Q3303048
Emirate of Afghanistan, Wali Muhammad Khan, Governor, 1880

And that should be all for Afghanistan as it is. More issuers are needed with different ruling authorities, but those will come later.  :)

I am always perplexed by these names, is Khan a title (honorary?) or a name?

Thanks!

Please note we do not add Anonymous rulers anymore, nor interregnum most of the time.

Also “Pretender” is not a title, but king or emir is :-)

I would assume it is like a surname, although I cannot say for certain. I just know that, for the ones we have added, all are Khans, but for the ones we need added, some are not (Durrani, Zaman, and Jang, for example).

When it was originally decided to add Anonymous rulers, it was so the coins would appear chronologically when sorted by ruling authority. Originally, it was also set as a “Period” rather than the title like “King”. Is there something else we are doing in place of this, to keep the proper order, or… just nothing there instead and leaving those coins unsorted?

Same thing with Interregnum, of course.  x)

Yes, it is on our tech roadmap to correctly sort coins even when they do not have ruling authority :-)

I see I see. Makes sense.  :)

All done, you can use them now :-)

Thank you! All modification requests have been made.  :)
