From September 15, 2023 to September 19, 2023 my total coins in my Numista Catalog  dropped from 7,158 to 7,151 without any record of changes. Seven coins were missing from the record and it is hard to find which coins in the catalogs were deleted.  Is this some technical glitch? Lately I have realized that Numista has been very unreliable in cataloging owns coins.

Maybe “coins” moved to “exonumia.”  Has that count gone up?

Do they show up here?  https://en.numista.com/vous/journal.php

Thanks Rsirian1. You are right. They moved my Artsakh coins to Exonumia. But there was no record of the move. I do not collect exonumia so was not aware of this. Artsakh coins are still listed as coins, so No idea. Thanks anyway.

Were they from 2013?

Yes . 2013.

I am curious to know how the movement of 7 items from Coins to Exonumia has brought you to this conclusion.

Movement between categories should be visible to not have this confusion again.

Based on the original post  it suggests that other factors played into the negative comment. I am curious as to what, other than the 7 coins being moved to Exonumia, warrants such a comment.

Regardless of some negative comment I would want to know when stuff gets changed like it is already done when year lines are moved etc.. I had some Spanish coins put in the ‘Unkown coin’ catalog page and only new this because of N/A numbers on my dashboard. I think something like this is now also logged or they get simply moved to the ‘undetermined’ line.

I can remember numerous occasions  when coins were moved, deleted etc. but here are the  three occasions which are fresh in my mind.

1. The current reference in which coins from Artsakh were shifted to Exonumia without any notification.

2.  Belgium KM 144 and KM 148  & Belgium KM 145 and KM 149 counted as 1 type (previous there were two pages and they combined into one page). Since I collect coins by type suddenly one day I saw the number of my types was reduced by 2. It took me a while to figure out what had happened. Again no notification on what was done.

3. Kazakhstan Coins - when they deleted KMs 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a and 5a from the catalog all of a sudden. Even Krause listed these coins. They was no notification on why these coins were deleted. well later on there was a discussion and I now agree that these should be deleted. But one should atleast get some notification if there are major changes being done at the catalog.

Since I doubt the Numista Admin team has the time to send out a PM's on every page and line change considering the current numbers in each. There are only a about a dozen individuals that have access to the information and dealing with a total of about 700,000 varieties.

Coins - 481,258 varieties for 203,114 coin types   •   4331 issuers in 284 groups

Banknotes - 103,721 varieties for 37,498 banknote types   •   4187 issuers in 216 groups

Exonumia -  113,160 varieties for 98,256 exonumia types   •   887 issuers in 354 groups

Since Numista is a collaboration of information from the members why not start a Forum topic say titled “October - Coin Changes” or “October -Banknote changes” or something similar for those that are interested. Just for members and possibly admins to post what changes occur in a given month. Much like the duplicate entries post, not a lot of comments, just the needed information. It won't catch everything but it should help with the concerns you have.

I don't think anyone is asking for PM's for every change that affects their collection.  As you say, that would be a tremendous effort considering the number of members.  The question (at least for me) is why don't/can't they show up on this page?  Delete coin/Add exonumia.  What is preventing that from happening and can it be changed?

Indeed it's just about the recent changes in collection feature. Just implement a new category ‘transfer from-to’ or add it to the modified item one.
