Sorry, I am not sure where to post this and I am not looking for a modification to the catalog but I was unsure about where to post this. This question relates to the how Numista calculates coin and collection values. Can someone explain how my personal Numista collection's estimated value has suddenly increased by approximately 35% versus about 3 months ago? I am flattered but something does not seem right. Thanks in advance.
It happens because the internal Numista values are stored in euros. For example, if your currency is in USD, you put your values as $1,000 in total. Numista records it as, let's say 910 euros. The next month the exchange rate USD/EUR changes, and now the same 910 euros are worth $1,050, for example. Even though you did not add any new coins, the value will always change. It will not change only if your preferred currency is EUR.
However, I am not sure why it increased by 35% (I presume your preferred currency is USD). Mine did not increase that much in 3 months.
I hope that helps.
