King George VI's reign in India ended in 1950, NOT 1952!
India became the very first British Commonwealth republic on 26 January 1950.
King George VI ceased to be Emperor of India in August 1947 - then he was King of India from then until the declaration of the Republic of India.
Between August 1947 & 26 January 1950, India was actually the independent Dominion of India - with the King being viceregally represented by the Governor-General of India, as opposed to the Viceroy of India.
