I am so pleased to see your return. Maybe you could finally fix the issues with my Numista account which have rendered the site functionally useless for almost a year and a half.

When logged in the pages load with extreme slowness. Even regular single pages, trying to load a swap list would be simply not possible. As you may imagine this has been very frustrating, especially as I haven't been able to get any response or acknowledgement.

If I log out, the pages load instantly. Others have had the same issue and they have tested the problem by exchanging passwords with other users who are not affected. It's entirely due to the Numista profile, those not affected get the problem if they log in using the credentials of a problem account and vice versa. I have had the problem on two PCs, my laptop, my wife's PC and while logging in from locations up to 1,500 miles apart.

I trust that you will give this matter your urgent attention and that after a long exile I will be able to return to being an active member.

Thank you in anticipation.

I only need a part of a day. Having read elsewhere that the problems of French users have already been dealt with, I think that after a year of being ignored it's time for action.

Hey Phil Hope all is fine in your world. Other than your issue here. It would be great to see you more.
It is, what it is, or is it.
If that's solved we would see him more... That issue is reason why he's not around...

Hello Daryl, everything here is just peachy. I have some surgery scheduled for Thursday so I won't be around for a while, but still planning on living to be 100+ by following the Keith Richards Diet & Lifestyle Plan.

You are a very perceptive young lady and a pleasure to call my friend.

Cynics are already suggesting that the Second Coming may be simply because it's time for the 2015 tokens to be released. I'm not sure that I'd go that far but I figured I'd better get some attention while the Captain is still on the bridge. (I think... has anyone heard from him recently?)

To be honest I don't think I'd ever become more than marginally active again. I've developed much better alternatives to the old Numista swapping format. It was quite an eye opener to discover how many people I actually know in this game outside of this one website, making a virtue out of a necessity has forced me to get off my posterior and start communicating again.

I'd like to remain active because there are a lot of people here who I've come to regard as friends and I still believe that Numista could be the premier site of it's type with different management. I have dozens, maybe hundreds of obscure coins which are not in the database and many times that number which are in much better condition than the example photographs. I'd be willing to take the time to add these to the catalog but not while it is in the destructive hands of spiteful or misguided teenagers.

Similarly, the numisdocs range from excellent (the calendars, these are the best around but we need more, well done to whoever produced them) to the frankly inaccurate crap. If things had gone differently over the past two years I would have been at least open to the possibility of editing the good and replacing the junk. However that is a huge time sink and I'd rather spend the time on other projects which are not dependent on the mood of a single person.

I hope all the misdeeds of the Captain and his teenage crew are water under the bridge and that 2015 will see Numista resurface as a credible reference source with a knowledgeable user base. It's still early so I'm still hoping for signs of life.

Time will tell.

Hey Phil good luck with your surgery this week and I llok forward to hanging out with you this summer! I finally got my new retirement date and we will be moving back down there as soon as my daughter finishes the school year. I hope the family is doing well and that the issues of the site will finally be fixed for you as I know you have an amazing collection and still am amazed at some of the coins I got from our last transaction. Thank you again for that it made my Christmas!

Sincerely,
Matt
Aye, I thought those might keep you out of mischief over the Christmas period.

I will look forward very much to your arrival and jointly finding a treasure chest or two. By the time you arrive I may even have discovered a source for Chilean wine. Could life get any better?

Hello Phil, I have tried something. Is the load time better now when you are logged in?
Hello Xavier,

I haven't really noticed any difference but thanks for the attempt. Is there any information you need from me or from my end which would help matters?

Sounds like a plan to me and I will have to introduce you to some of my apple pie moonshine lol
it was a nice read on my regular 5 minutes back to Numista per month. ;)

no changes.
Criminals still on the team.

Have fun, guys, bye

p.s. I have added the 12th like, Phil!  :(

I guess you should make a new account, I don't know what to say man,
Mine works great and all, but I don't think Xavier can fix a specific account

Not an option mate. I don't intend to lose 4 years of positive feedback and manually re-enter around 8,000 coins on a website which may or may not be around in the future.

Besides all that, having more than one account is against the rules and would most likely result in both accounts being banned. Stranger things have happened.

He stated main reasons not to make new account in a post just before mine. Was about to bring out same things.

Xavier can do it. He can do literally ANYTHING.
It just might take time to figure out what's causing it to be then able to figure out how to fix it. But of course he can.

Hello Phil, I'm sorry I couldn't find what makes the website so slow with your account.
The few other members who experienced the same problem had had a temporary forum ban for 24 hours or so. Maybe look into that? Is there anything that may remain after forum ban that makes account slow?
I don't know Phil if you had that too and your account stayed slow right after that or was it unrelated.
I reckon that's that then.

Thanks for nothing.

Hello Xavier,

You may recall this issue which has been a plague for so long for some North American members. A solution never did present itself if you recall but the problem lessened a little during last year's general improvements.

Recently, roughly two weeks ago, I noticed it was taking an extraordinary long time for my PM inbox to open. The rest of the site shows no similar delay, just the PM system. I am wondering if you made any recent changes there and if this might provide some clue as to the origin of this long running issue.

I wish the PM Inbox would be like on the forum, with 50 lines per page.
So for example if someone has say 500 messages, it would only need the current first page of 50 to load, with the other 9 of 50 in a link below - rather than one 500 message long page.

My Inbox with current count of 1258 messages is taking a bit too long to load as well, 2-5 seconds. In both Chrome and Firefox. Seems to be a bit faster in Chrome though. Does not bother me too much but I think Zac's suggestion of breaking it up into pages makes sense.
Why not simply delete the old messages or at least put them in the save folder?
Why are so many people e-mail hoarders (8?

Problem fixed!

I can't believe I failed to notice a saved mail folder for so many years. Thank you.

I was aware of the savebox but I never used it. I'll be using it to save the latest MPCC entries since my inbox loads perfectly fine on my laptop (on my iPhone less so but its not really a big deal).

I don't save e-mails, I have a cleanout once a fortnight or so, which was a problem because I've had to ask some members several times for their addresses, now I've started sending e-mails with addresses to the savebox and then deleting everything else that isn't current.
I'll mark this as solved even though the original problem remains alive and kicking. It seems there is no link between the inbox problems and the long running page load issue. No point in distracting Dear Leader into wasting time reading through such a long thread when there is much do be done elsewhere.

Eventually your thing will be fixed in one way or another.
Rest in Peace.

Everybody dies, no person is more important than any other when it comes to losing someone, well known or not. When it is a star, you always get people acting like they were close but don't have words to say about them until they are dead.

Now.....

Back to the original issue, chrome having an issue loading busy pages.

copy this below and paste in address bar
chrome://flags/#enable-gpu-rasterization

You can see the selection highlighted. Switch its state from "Default" to "enabled"

Restart Google Chrome and see how it deals with the slow loading now.
