I guess it would be better to just use the Latin letters for the ID's. Andrey and his friends should try to change it to Latin. Not only because of this bug, but also since not everyone can read Cyrillic.
Hello smoked_caramel,
Thank you for reporting this bug. Unfortunately, it's not a problem of display but a problem when the user signed up. Андр&# is his real username.
I think I will take ngdawa's idea and allow only Latin characters for future usernames.
Sorry I was not clear. It indeed affects most users who intended to have a non Latin character at the end of their username, although not all of them. About 30 members are affected.
I have added a restriction on characters allowed in the username. So there should be no new usernames with Cyrillic letters.
The change also includes improvement of the registration form:
- Instant check of username availability
- Instant feedback on input's validity
- Check of password strength
Unfortunately, the existing members who had their username wrongly registered will keep their weird username. I can't change their name, otherwise they won't be able to log in.
If you are affected by this bug, feel free to contact me to change your username.
