12,302 new members joined Numista in 2015, increasing Numista's size by 27%. 12,075 users chose a nation for their profile, and 227 did not (1.9%).

More users joined Numista in 2015 than were already here in November 2011.

Numista will likely pass 70,000 users in October 2016, and could exceed 80,000 by the summer of 2017. Both France and the USA will pass 10,000 members by the end of 2016.

Of 2015's new members, 2,402 are American, 2,172 are French, 892 are Indian, 655 are British, 593 are Canadian, 391 are Belgian, 249 are Brazilian, and 225 are Australian. The remaining 4,496 are from 180 other nations.

12 places added their first member in 2015: Aruacania & Patagonia, Azores, Chad, Dominica, Mauritania, Sao Tome & Principe, South Sudan, Spitsbergen, Sudan, Suriname, Tokelau, and Westarctica.

All of the top 25 nations grew in size in 2015 by at least 35% (except for the Netherlands, 28%). Of these, the fastest growers were the Philippines, Lithuania, Brazil, Malaysia, South Africa, UK, Australia and India. The Philippines nearly doubled its member tally this year!

At the time of this writing...
...Numista has 53,668 members and lists 71,306 coins (up 19% from 2014)
...Colnect has 22,699 coin collectors and 56,793 coins (up 14%)
...World Coin Gallery has 494 members (with at least 100 coin types) and 60,750 coin photos. WCG has not updated their coin tally for at least two years, and the number of members with 100+ coins actually went down! (In comparison with WCG, Numista has over 3,000 members with 1,000 or more coins cataloged.)

It is clear to me that Numista has overtaken all rivals and has become the premier internet destination for numismatics! It's time to get serious, ladies and gentlemen.

Numista's tenth anniversary is next year!
Time to administration to read this. This site deserves some more regular updates and/or communication.

Thanks for the stats Cerulean.

Indeed, thank you very much for these interesting stats every month (and year). Keep up the good work.

WCG is updating its tally irregularly, but once in a couple of months. Latest tally is from January 1st, 2016.
Member #100 has 3,500 coins, and total number of 100+ members is ~530.

Tallies for individual members are being updated, but not for the site as a whole. The front page has said "Gallery Total: Over 60,750 coin photos from 1,270 places." since the beginning of 2014.

Where did you find the number of 100+ members? I had to count them manually.
We are referring to the same "world coin gallery" aren't we? )
Tally is here: http://worldcoingallery.com/tally.htm (hope I'm not banned for advert).
Just saw a member #531 at the bottom, he has 114 coins. A fast search for 532/533/... gives 536 members with 100+ coins.
To be honest, I haven't updated my collection on the WCG in years. It was the 1st site I tried when I started looking for a place to manage my collection online, but I've long since given up on it. There are some fundamental problems with it:
  • too many coins missing (especially non-circulating types and anything from the last 2-3 years)
  • can't remove coins from your collection (just unchecking the box and saving doesn't actually remove them!)
  • not very user friendly interface - you have to click on/hover over links to see images, which is great if you're on a mobile device and trying to save bandwidth, but gets really annoying really fast if you're using a desktop
  • no forums
  • no search
  • too many ads - everything seems to be geared toward generating sales, either via E-Bay or from the owner's personal store

On the other hand, I still use both Colnect and Numista.
