Hello
very strange - earlier, when you do not have this indicator, all was well - no-one knew how many exchanges at numismatist.... this figure false!
When a lot is exchanges - is that bad? Numismatists afraid of active numismatist! This is NONSENSE!
IT IS NECESSARY TO REMOVE THESE FIGURE!
I  am 67  years  old.
To compare the value of coins prefer with   ebay  prices .
I always do my shipments through registered mail with tracking number and I hope you will do the same for me.
The only one who would want to have this removed would be the one who wants to take advantage of it not being there.
The number of swaps on the road is an indicator to help identify potential fraudulent behaviour. If a user has a large number of "swaps on the road" in comparison to his ratings history, it may have 2 meanings:
  • The user is honest and he started more swaps recently. Several "swaps on the road" will soon convert into positive ratings.
  • The user is not honest and he started many swaps but he never sent any coin. The number of swaps on the road will only grow since the coins never arrive, and no positive ratings are received.

It's a help to anticipate ratings and identify potential scammers, even before his swap partners understand they have been deceived and start giving negative ratings.

Xavier,
your theory works in practice ! red the phrase " pushing the partners are theoretically!! almost - I'm part of the society recognized a fraud ! - 10 exchanges in the path of the wary partners
and 15 exchanges in transit is 100% a scammer !
when a partner comes on my page and seeing 20 " "
there is such a great Russian saying goes "good intentions pave the road to hell"
Do I understand that I am a potential cheater ? -and conclusion - to me it is better not to have an exchange ?
why 10 " swap on the way" turns red? - I propose - if the collector two " swap the way" to paint the entire personal page in red ))
how do you comment this situation ?

Just do a few swaps at a time... it's not really rocket science here. It has been determined that having that many swaps in progress may denote fraudulent behavior. It doesn't prevent you from making lots of swaps but it does help protect people. Complete some swaps open some more complete them do some more.
aswq, I don't think you personally have anything to worry about. If I was going to start a swap with you, looking at our profile and seeing feedback of 190 and 24 "red" swaps on the road, knowing that mail from Russia may take months to arrive, I'd have no problem doing so (starting a swap). As was said above, it helps prevent cheating but does not guarantee full safety.

Yes I think so, too.
With 190 pos. feedbacks, you can have open 50 swaps and I would swap with you.
With 20 pos feedbacks you can have open "just" 20 swaps and I wouldn´t swap with you.
The number of open swaps is fact without valuation.
How you valuate this fact is your personal thing.
"With 20 pos feedbacks you can have open "just" 20 swaps and I wouldn´t swap with you."
And this means not, that this member is automatically a fraud.
The system merely provides information, members are free to interpret this as they see fit and can use their own judgement. There is nothing to prevent a bit of commonsense dialog. There may be perfectly good reasons why a large number of swaps are underway, a local strike halting delivery or maybe it's just a very active collector with a lot of time and energy. I like to have this information.

My original proposal was to make a 10/1 relationship between the number of completed swaps and the number of open ones. So, in this case 20 open swaps would not trigger a warning because of your 190+ 5 star swaps. A new member with 20 or even 5 open swaps would be flagged.

I've completed swaps with people having more than 10 underway without incident, I've also declined swaps from members who turned out to be scammers. Without this information I might have been one of the victims.

A small inconvenience is a small price to pay if it makes life harder for the crooks.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.
