Start a swap: Refining the search for swap partners

Hi!

Since finding a suitable swap partner can often be difficult, I would like to propose several improvements for the "Start a swap" page:

1) A possibility to hide the users that "don't want to make swaps for the moment"

The motivation here is simple, if a user does not want to make a swap now, then I would prefer not to bother him by sending a message or swap offer. Therefore, it makes sense to have the option to filter them out.

I think this should also be easy to implement. A simple checkbox saying "Hide users that don't want to make swaps for the moment" will probably suffice. (I also believe it would be beneficial to make it "checked" by default.)


2) Filtering based on a minimum number of "coins that may interest him/her"

When looking for a swap partner, it does not make much sense to open a swap if the other side is probably not interested in the coins from my swap list. This is already indicated by the column "coins that may interest him/her". However, even profiles that have "0" in this field currently show up.

I propose to add a simple input textbox that would be named "Minimum number of coins that may interest him/her" (with "1" as a default value). The searching user could input any positive integer and all profiles that fall below this value would then be filtered out from the search.


3) A possibility to filter using multiple countries

At the moment, the "filter by country" option only allows one country to be selected. This is very limiting. I think that a user searching for a swap partner is very often willing to send his coins to a wider range of countries (for example across Europe), but at the same time not to the entire world (due to the shipping costs, etc.).

I would like to suggest expanding this filter so that more individual countries can be added. The users from all of selected countries would then be shown in the search result.

It would also be very nice to have a virtual item called "Europe" that would automatically add all individual European countries (and most likely the same for Africa, Asia and South America).


4) Filtering with a coin list

I believe that when somebody is doing a search, he is usually not looking for just one single coin. It would therefore be beneficial to have the possibility to select more coins on the "Start a swap" page and only the users that have all of these coins in their swap list would show up. (It would also be very nice to have the optional possibility to specify a minimum desired grade for each of the added coins.)

Apart from adding multiple coins one by one (as described above), a more advanced option could additionally be implemented in exactly the same way as the "Specify criteria" in my "My swap wishes". It might then make sense to also add a radio button selection to switch between requiring the searched users to have "all of the selected coins" or "at least one of the selected coins".



In conclusion, I believe that using a combination of the above proposed search criteria and filtering, the search for a swap partner would provide very good candidate profiles.

Great ideas. I would love to see the option to view only members who have banknotes to swap. One checkbox (either have banknotes or no banknotes) should suffice.

Another useful filter/criteria would be a swap by condition utility (eg: swap by UNC or swap "CIRC")
