Don’t know whether this is in the right forum section nor wether it's deffined as an improvement, but, here we go: This may be a topic/suggestion, which probably has been discussed before and may be a bit controversial especially for those who want to achieve 300+ countries: Can’t some countrie’s under sections be combined, so we clean a bit up in the country index? It can be quit messy. Now we have the Ruling authority as an option. Eg. like French Polynesia’s; subdivide it into F. Polynesia and F. Oceania as ruling authorities instead of two different entities? Either that or in this case put it together as French Polynesia and subdivide it in the ruling authorities of France, like other French overseas territories are ordered? (if that makes sense?)
This is not for French Polynesia specifically, although that’s my best example right now, but more in general for the whole country index.
Let me know what you other people think on this :D
(I don't have the KM. book by my side right now, so I don't know if they do it differently, but I think regardless of how KM. do it, it sometimes will make more sense to merge it, at least in my humble opinion.)

I also think, to add one example more; in Austria, the Republic and the Habsburg rule could also be merged for instance, since they are succeser states and both independent countries, not eg. city states:
