Hi guys,

I have noticed that most of the pages of 20 cents euro coins I looked in our catalogue have a round shape.
For me round is round, but this is not round it have 7 part of a circle that is commonly call "Spanish flower".
Can we add this shape to the list of shapes availlable and change all the 20 euro cents coins pages by the Robot?

It depends. Is it considered a shape or an edge, smooth with seven indentations ("Spanish flower")?

The Spanish 50 peseta coins issued between 1990 and 2000 were the first to feature the Spanish flower. They are all marked here as round coins with a Spanish Flower edge: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?e=espagne&r=&ct=coin&tb=y&tc=y&tn=y&tp=y&tt=y&cat=y&ru=&ca=3&no=&v=50+pesetas&d=spanish+flower&i=&a=&dg=&m=&f=&t=&w=&u=&g=&se=&c=&wi=&sw=
Hi,

I would agree to have it in the edge if the shape would be right, but the coin is not round and that’s the main problem for me. After that should we keep it on the edge? For me that’s fine.

Spanish Flower was first used for some of the Spanish coins towards the end of their Pesetas currency series in the 1990's - but is now the shape used for all 20 Euro-Cents coins.

Definitely should be added to the list of shapes.

The European Central Bank has a leaflet about the Euro banknotes and coins. If you look at page 5 of this document, the shape of the 20 cents coin is Spanish flower shape. Therefor, I support this request to add Spanish Flower to the list of shapes.
They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...
Will the edge then be called 'indented'.
According to the document, the edge is plain, which makes sense. The fact that the shape is Spanish Flower means it has 7 indents. The edge is, also in those indents not reeded, there is no security edge, so it think plain is the best description.

This discussion looks a bit like a chicken or egg dilemma ... both can be argued for :°

Even though I have a slight preference for Spanish flower as shape, I do think that hardly anyone holding this kind of coin will type in anything else than "round". Maybe "round ( Spanish Flower)" as a compromise?

Then again, we have scalloped coins, like this one from Ethiopia ... just like Spanish flower, but twice as many notches.
Though if I compare it to other scalloped coins, it might rather be the first Spanish flower (but then with 14 indentations) instead of a scalloped coin

Sorry to not make this any easier z|

Hello,

I added the Spanish flower to the list of shapes (with no associated picture yet).

And the pictures are now added, thanks to stratocaster.

Round with seven deep grooves = Spanish flower   and vice versa

with 14 indentations is ethiopian flower

It is therefore necessary to review all the edges which do not comply with the decisions of the European Council, a higher authority than the ECB.

It's now also integrated in almost all the pages I spoted.

Great, thank you!

A comparison gives a name. with 4 grooves it is a cloverleaf, with 5 a carnation
