I know this is a ton of information but because this framework isn't available, the Mexico section is a bit of a mess.

As it is now, under the issuing authority of "Mexico" one can select the issuing authority of the First Empire, First Republic, Second Empire, and the United Mexican States (1905 - date). 1905 was still Second Republic Mexico (which didn't issue any banknotes) and the United Mexican States didn't come into existence until between 1917 and 1920 depending on how you look at it.

I propose that "Commercial Banks" should come before "United Mexican States"

When it comes to the States issuing their own currency during the Revolution I think the States should be removed from the Issuing authority menu and added to the Ruling authorities under Mexico.

Is there any way I can help make this happen?
The banks' names should be in English as well as in Spanish.

As for the Mexican States' notes, they should be listed in a section titled 'Mexican States'.

Currently, on the banknote catalogue page under Mexico there are two subcategories: Mexico and Mexico - Revolutionary. Under Mexico - Revolutionary are the different state issues.

When adding or modifying banknote data one can choose Mexico as the issuing authority or some of the states (not all are available to choose). I suggest Mexico be the issuing authority for all of these notes because at no point during the Revolution did any of these states consider themselves apart from Mexico. Under the issuing authority of Mexico the individual states should be added as ruling authorities. In the case of the commercial bank period during the Second Republic/Porfiriato, the ruling authority should be Second Republic and the individual banks should be added as Issuing entities.

So Mexico is the umbrella Issuing authority and beneath it, as Ruling authorities are:
  • First Empire
  • First Republic
  • Second Empire
  • Second Republic
  • Individual States
  • Estados Unidos

A good argument could also be made to add Provisional Government as a Ruling authority between the Individual States and Estados Unidos.

Then as Issuing entities refer to my original post for the different banks that issued banknotes at different times.
The name 'Estados Unidos' should be replaced by 'United Mexican States'.

As a gringo living in Mexico I don't like it, but I think you're right.

Rejecting this topic as it mixes different things not necessarily used for the same info (ruling, bank, entity).

Banks thread here to start with and allow tracking.
