USPHS Centennial Medals [Risolto]

I have two of these medals and would like to create a exonumia page for them. They are medals that were given to workers of the U.S.P.H.S. Commissioned Corp in celebration of the centennial in 1989. A page illustrating them in the Smithsonian catalog is here: https://americanhistory.si.edu/collections/search/object/nmah_1134093. I wish I knew more about the history of the medal though. All I know is that they likely belonged to my grandfather who did public health work, but that is the extent of my knowledge.
