I organize my collection by assigning a unique ID (a short alphanumeric code) to each of my more interesting coins so they're easier to track and catalogue.

Currently I use "private comment" field to keep track of my IDs, but things soon become messy when there are actual comments I want to enter.

It would be nice if I could enter "my ID" into a separate field and maybe use it to quickly look up the coin.

Cheers!
Dino
Why not simply use the ID that is already generated for each coin page on Numista.

This coin for example https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces259506.html
The ID is in the link being 259506

Otherwise I don't think there is another way other that with the private comment.

Hello,

It's now possible to enter a private ID for the coins in your collection.

A coin with internal ID “8946415-id”

To start using this new field, select it in your account configuration.

Is there a way to change the date formate for the acquisition field? Right now I only have the awful mid-endian date formate (MM-DD-YYYY) leading to constant errors while entering the day in the month field.

It's a native date input field. The format  is controlled by your browser, not by Numista. It depends on the language and region settings of your browser and OS.

Hm, everything else is in DD-MM-YYYY only the date entry not (despite it being even in German).

EDIT: seems to be a Firefox issue, Chromium browsers depict 'tt/mm/jjjj'

Numista controls the format when displaying a date, but not for date inputs.
Which browser and OS are you using?

It's a Firefox issue (I edited my last post shortly before yours).

A possible fix for Firefox:

  • Open the advanced configuration by typing “about:config” in the URL bar
  • Search “intl.locale.requested”
  • Verify what value is there and adjust if needed.

For example, if I set the value to “fr”, I get the format “jj / mm / aaaa”. If I set “en-US”, I get the format “mm / dd / yyyy”.

Thanks, I've searched for that option line but didn't find it … I will try that.

Is this field also addressable through the API (didn't see it in the docs)? Currently I use private comment, but with a script I can move them all to this new field. Makes more sense.

Never mind, I saw the announcement in another thread about the extension of the API.
