Hello fellow numismats,

As we all know (or not, but then you know it now), we have a Numisdoc to help identify different alphabets on coins: https://en.numista.com/numisdoc/how-to-identify-alphabets-193.html. However, for some people, it's still difficult to identify coins. Some people are visually impaired, some people are illiterate and sometimes, the writing on coins is not as sharp as it needs to be to decipher the name of the country.

For those people, I'd like to suggest we create a new Numisdoc to help identify coins, or at least the countries, in a different way. Most countries often use the same symbol on many of their coins. I want to create a reference with the most common symbols on coins, and by which country those are used. If you take a look at the screenshots I quickly made for explaining purposes, most seasoned collectors will immediately identify the country, just by looking at the symbols.

If anyone has ideas or suggestions to improve this iniative, please let me know :)

Cheers!
They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...
Hello,
That would be a nice addition to Numisdoc :)
Perhaps we could track the idea here: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic63157.html
We can use Krause's "Instant Identifier" as guide/example and make our own:

Krause also had a section "Monograms" (on earlier hard copy versions) which can directly be linked on a certain country.
Nice project - smvdbrink
Hello,
Numisdoc was closed, so no new article will be added.
