Hello fellow numismats,

I would like to suggest that we disable the option to edit your forum posts after someone else has responded. The first reason for this request is that when someone responds and the post that is responded to changes, there is no context of what happened anymore. It results in weird conversations. The second reason is because of what happened a few weeks ago when a certain member, in a fit of madness, removed all his posts, including some very valuable how-to's. The third reason is for weird behavior like in this screenshot:

They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...
Not a fan because I often type before I think and often need to correct myself one or two times or add something and in that time there could be new posts.
The only concession I could give is to remove the ability after a certain time so that the option of "screw you guys I'm going home and I'm taking all my stuff" will not be available anymore.

I understand what you say, but I think every timeframe is kind of arbitrary. If you want to correct yourself and someone else has already responded, you can also reply to your own post with the correction you want to make. Another solution would be some sort of changelog, where you can always see what the original post was and what was changed.

Agree. Facebook does something similar. Many times I'm scratching my head over a reply until I see the OP edited date and time is after the reply. I still don't know what was changed/added but at least I know the reply made sense at one time.
Not a fan of the idea.

Disabling the edit function because a tiny minority of members act weird is a bit extreme.

When the message has been quoted by another member, its author cannot modify the quotation.
once is enough not to quote the entire message 50 times for each reply

The date and time of the last edition are indicated below the original ones.
