From Xavier's idea on this topic: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic44646.html

Now Numista has the fuction of uploading pictures of each individual coin, so I think the gallery system could be implemented.
When adding the coins tocollection, there will be four checkboxes to choose options. (all are blank by default)

Possible additional functions:
Public photo - allow people to see uploaded photos. (either each line has additional button to show photos / or adding a new big gallery section to coin's page / or both)
Add photo to the gallery - in my opinion, this should be approved by the referee to preventing adding the coin to wrong year line / adding fakes. The gallery section may appear above year lines only if there are photos uploaded.
Allow referee to edit comment - allow referee to edit public comment section. In the case the coin was added to unknow variants line, which appear on many coins pages which the variants are difficult to detect.
Allow referee to move year line - allow referee to move to correct year line. Autometically add the text "Line moved by referee" if moved. This is just my personal idea as other referee may don't have enough free time to do all the work.

Additional opinion:
- Photos from registered past auctions is autometically added to the gallery.
- for each photo set in the gallery, show date, mintmark, (signatures for banknotes) and some text of comment section. When click the text, make the coresponding year line red color.
- Either referees has the right to delete member's photo, or referee have to make the request to master referee or catalog admin to delete.
- Use the same copyright rule as the pieces' top photos when adding photos to the gallery: people have to select whether they made the picture themselves, or copying photos from sites that allow Numista to use their photos.

Personally I don't want to deal with any members private pictures and I am not a nanny for users to choose the right year line.
I also think most members don't want me to meddle with them too.

Oh I forgot to say that the options used check box, so people can choose options that fit to themselves.
(Actually, it's the idea of dealing with Japanese cash coins that are difficult to identify. So I will deal with them myself. :D)

Hmm, still we have a forum explicitly for that.
I will have a look how detailed the Munro catalog was, it's so old that we could use the ink plottings for better variant depiction if nobody owns the version.
Not only old Japanese coins will get benefit from the gallery system. I have trouble reading some types of year number onthe coins as well like dates of Israeli coins cor some kind of old Indian/Nepalese coins. Having a complete set of coins in the gallery would help people compare their coins with the pictures in the gallery without asking in the forum.

Here are some more example of pieces that may get benefits from gallery system
> greece 5D 1930 - variety difficult to see
> Thailand 1B 2552~2560 - variety difficult to see, some of these varieties found by me and not in any catalog book.
> Thailand 5s 127~131/2456~2580 - some dates maybe difficult to read, and some variety difficult to see
> Ethiopia 50s 1969~2008 - some dates maybe difficult to read, and some variety difficult to see

As promised in a different Thread:  https://en.numista.com/forum/topic140945.html#p1129413 , this is a mock-up of what I envision for Numista's website in the future.

After you do an item search and select the item in question, it will take you to a page shown below.  This page has either three tabs or buttons on its name:  Attributes, Gallery, and Talk.  It is up to the Referee to enable the Gallery and Talk page.

The Gallery Page has a Search Filters functionality and “Photo View” or “Photo with Details  View”    The Photos only shows the Obv, Rev, Copyright Image information, Numista #, weight, diameter, and date.   This layout was inspired by Oswal Antiques.

If you click on the image, it will get bigger and encompass the screen it will then show past Auction information along with Special Notes.   It would be sweet to be able to add active links that will take you to the auction website showing the item as well.

Finally, the talk page utilizes the current Forum style but on a more limited basis.

This mock-up does not go into the itty gritty - this is just a birds-eye view from looking down per se.  So tell me what you think. I look forward to the comments.

I think it's paramount to show the coins' year, isn't it? And of course the km#.

In my opinion, The talk page shoul have Messenger/Discord style so people could talk or have a small chat without clicking too many times.

Yes, the main purpose of the gallery is to have many people share the picture of their coins and we could use them as examples of variants.

I suggest each of the photo can be commented so people could help identify.

I updated the mock-up design.  I added more features and fixed some oversights.

Hello,
The “Talk” page is already discussed here: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic64065.html

and the gallery is discussed here: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic44646.html

For the sake of clarity, I will close this topic. Please continue the discussion in these two threads.
