I know the French banknote section of Numista is a complete mess but it seems those in charge haven't finished messing it up. We now have a section titled "French Treasure banknotes" which includes the issues of the "Trésorerie aux Armées", the "Trésor Française" during the Suez crisis and, most bizarrely, the Allied Military Currency, within a completely imaginary currency of "Franc (1943-1945)". How can this possibly be justified?
My request is to return the Allied Military Currency to "France" and to place the Treasury issues in Exonumia if they did not circulate outside of the military. "French Treasure banknotes" should then be deleted.

Hello,

The issuer “French Treasure banknotes” was created in the early days of the banknote section and before the opening of the exonumia section.

The rationale is still visible here: https://fr.numista.com/forum/topic95036.html#p798131

Reading it again now that the banknote section is more mature, I believe we should have created different issuing banks (or issuing entities) rather than creating another issuing authority. These banknotes are issued in France (or for France): their difference is only that they were not issued by the Banque de France.

I'll ask Kreutzer67 to give use his opinion as referee for French banknotes.

We should also clarify which banknotes did not circulate outside of military camps, so they can be moved to exonumia.

Thank you for looking into this. I'd not seen this explanation before but I can't see that it justifies what was set up. We've been discussing the British and American military notes recently and there is a clear need in Exonumia for a section for vouchers that were only used within military camps (not just for POW camps).

ceh2019I know the French banknote section of Numista is a complete mess

That's, unfortunately, a terrible fact … It was built to be used with a paper catalog beside the website…

I'm French myself, but I don't understand what was the point to create these section this way …

Always look on the bright side of life!

As the issuer is gone, I believe this can be marked as done.
