Kenya 1 Shilling KM #34 2005 vs. 2010

Hi,

The dates for the 2005 en 2010 version of the Kenya 1 Shilling KM #34 (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces1843.html) are aligned differently and there are also a few differences between the heads on the coins. Should they be split in two different types?

They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...
No, the diffrences are too small, so I would say NO.

There are quite a few differences if you look at the face and also the alignment of the year is really different. I'd like to get the opinion of one of the referees on this one :)

I'm sorry, I'm an old man and my eye sight isn't anymore what it used to be, but can you point me out the differences on the face please? I have both coins in my hand right now but I don't see any difference. The difference in alignment of the year I can see, the partial dates of the 1920 coins are a little bit further away from the rim, but I wouldn't call that "really different".
I have to agree with Sjoelund, these difference are too small to be split. These kind of differences happen all the time. Remember the discussion about the South Korean 5 Won. The difference between the 1972 and the other dates are far more significant than on this Kenyan coin, yet it's still the same type:

I have the feeling that they redrew the face for the 2010 coin. The lips are bigger on the 2005 coin, the nostril is slightly bigger, the bags under the eye are different, the back of the shoulder is different, the transition from the neck to the hair is different. They sure look the same, but I'm quite convinced that it's not the exact same image. If it was only the date, I'd agree with you, but in this case, I'm not so sure that they shouldn't be split :)

I wanted to make a .gfi out of the two heads and found out the coins are not round, so it's not possible.... the year sides are no good either:(

Did you put your camera lens 90° on top af the coin to make the images?

I'm sorry, I still don't see a difference, especially not on the lips, the nostril and the bags under the eye.

I do agree with Essor Prof. The only difference isin the year, but that is normal.
