Is it time to stop adding new coins to Numista?

Having coins still waiting validation after 6 weeks and even though there is a referee for that particular country, I am thinking that adding other coins, which I do have, I should now stop.
It used to be a very quick process, but now it is very slow and extremely frustrating. I fully understand that if a particular country has no referee, then it might take a little longer, but if a referee is allocated then 6 weeks is unacceptable.
My last few coins from this same country was validated by a senior administrator, and not the referee

This happens when the process of selection for referees it's a matter of "I want to be" and "Ok, you're in". :°
I dont understand why a coin can't be quick added, like picture and year , and be accepted. And only after that someone else can maybe edit the lettering and everything
Of course not and I hope to reach soon the 10.000 coin pages created on Numista.

What I do is that all Referees which are not listed as being away on holiday or for other reasons, on the Profile Page there is the !
If a coin is not added within 4 weeks I report the Referee to the moderators for inactivity.
We can all have issues in life wether its health or for other reasons, the moderator can always then come back when he can be more active again.
Of course the referee should always be warned first on the actions that might result in no activity.

I’m pretty sure there was a thread similar to this here.

Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.
It is now over 7 weeks and nothing has happened

so true
I’m pretty sure there was a tread similar to this [url=https://en.numista.com/forum/topic112131

If it has been discussed before, why is nothing being done about it by the more senior administrators?

I also have about 15 coins waiting to be added to the catalog (approved by a referee) and 1 of them has been pending for about 5 weeks.
I also have about 20 modifications but those seem to be quicker.

As a referee myself I understand your frustrations. I have had 2 Dutch coins waiting for validation since August. The coins are already on Numista, I have just improved the pictures so it will be a really simple job to validate them. Where is the referee for Netherlands coins?

According to the list of Referees there are three of them for the Netherlands ..... Eagle68, Florino28, Michaelw90.

Seems like they are all MIA.

Surely its about time the more senior administrators of this website got to grips with this problem. I have other coins to add, but they are going nowhere until this present situation is resolved.

How do you suggest it should work then?

I noticed the continuous silence from the senior administrators. When there's a problem they all seem to hibernate.

This is a great site. Free and the referees are unpaid ( to the best of my knowledge).

Your coin is available on "My Coins" and you can view it as often as you like.

Relax, enjoy your hobby, and be grateful for those who give their time to give us all such a useful and informative site.
You will notice that there is a lot of movement among the referees lately: arrivals, departures, modifications.
Apart from a few units, there are 144 referents covering 400 of the 803 Countries and Territories (not counting the sections and subsections) listed in the Numista catalog.
There is therefore room for referees volunteers.

You seem to be missing a very serious point.
The Numista website is there for all of it's members to enjoy and to learn, but some of the learning is adding new items to the catalogue "for others" to view as well, thus enjoyment contintinues.
I am only pointing out what is a serious problem and could get worse, but no-one is taking any notice, which is the most disappointing part of this whole episode.
Reading through other forum topics, I do not seem to be the only member with this problem, so its about time the senior administrators got to grips with this, before they start losing members and members contributions.

Hi
I would say that with Exonumia there is more free will when approving new requests. Seldomly are catalogues available and usually its the language of the piece, that determines to which country it goes. With coins its different story, its more than necessary to have catalogues or regularly follow new outputs. If a referee lacks these materials and skills, it can take some time longer to accept new entry. Please have in mind also this point of view.

My five coins were validated today by Jarcek, which is brilliant, but where is the actual referee.
My thanks to Jarcek

Stato cambiato a Risolto (COINMAN1, 16 Ott 2021, 20:52)
Stato cambiato a Aperto (COINMAN1, 18 Ott 2021, 11:34)
I made a mistake in clicking "solved", but realized very quickly, that although my five coins have been validated, the situation with the length of time it takes to validate plus the inactivity of some referees has still not been answered by any senior administrators, so the "solved" has been reversed, and will stay that way until an appropriate answer has been placed on this forum topic.
When an answer is added, I will add the other coins that need adding to the Numista catalogue, but not until then.

This is the answer: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic113735.html

I try to work on requests (of other referees) every week, but that is not feasible solution. Only armada of referees can handle catalogue this massive. Also Xavier is much more engaged than before, that helps a lot. (Btw, he made possible to duplicate a tab in google chrome again, this was not working since lists for rulling authorities were created).

I understand your patience is wearing thin, and this whole thread is great example of it. We are trying to sort it out. Recently, we got new referees (coins issuers) for Iceland, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Burgundian Netherlands, Duchy of Brabant and Islamic states on Iberian peninsula. More are in the process of being approved.

A good but not a satisfactory answer.
What happened to the referee? Did nothing for seven weeks, and validation was by you and not him

He is most probably inactive, and we will be searching for co-referee at least.

Let me know when this happens, and I will add the other three coins
