Eiraku Tsuho: Should I buy it?

Pubblicazioni di 3 • visto 306 volte
Hey everyone, the piece below is being sold as a Japanese Eiraku Tsuho (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces221649.html). I’d like to have one in my collection but don’t want to accidentally buy a Ming dynasty original. Does the attribution given seem correct?

Thanks,
Harrison

Hello Harrison

I have two Eiraku tsuho the one from the link you put

and this one thicker engraving for this one (two different references)

the engraving is finer and deeper for the Eiraku Tsuho
the edges of the slice are perfect and the framing of the hole is finer than on the Yong le tong bao
and the dark alloy is most common in Japan
It's why i'm not sure that is an Eiraku Tsuho
it's just my opinion I'm not an expert:D

Hey Guillaume! I appreciate the response you’ve given me. I’m honestly not sure either if it’s an Eiraku Tsuho but I don’t think it’s original. The seller posted numbers 3.15-3.17 on the case suggesting that to me that David Hartill’s Coins of Japan was used as the reference (Large character varieties). I’ll have to do more research and get some more opinions on it.

Thanks again!
