Currently when looking for new released coins on the site, there is no way to tell if another member has added the coin or not.
This is likely to lead to a number of members adding the same coin without realizing that the effort is duplicated.
Perhaps show the coin in a draft status on the site without any members being able to add to their collection until approval, but allow modifications to the entry if additional data/info can be added?
Examples
- Gibraltar released some coins recently and I added to catalogue 2 weeks ago, but other members dont see it as its pending review.
- France released 13 Harry Potter coins and im sure someone already added entries, so am reluctant to spend time to add 13 entries if im duplicating an effort already done.
I agree to some extent because I understand your point about creating many detailed request for it just be rejected due to one already pending and if we have that it will make the referees work a little easier instead of rejecting potentially hundreds of similar requests just several would be okay. However it might cause some people to have a race to see if they can do the most detailed request that would be annoying to other people especially the referee.
Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.
Cita: "rsirian1"This was discussed here and draft pages were changed to not be visible to anyone other than the person that created it.

Hi there,
I actually dont get to see the coin pages I added until the referee approves it (maybe i just dont know how to get to them ).
I read thru the article you linked and I agree that scammers should not use the ability to create pages for the sake of ripping people off. Perhaps the usage of a watermark background stating its a draft with a red color scheme would be sufficient?

Thanks for the feedback.
When your adding just one coin, its not too bad, but when a mint releases 10+ coins, its challenging if multiple people are adding the same 10+ coins and other contributors cant tell. For Switzerland I tend to add/update as soon as I see the release, its not a big deal as the swissmint doesnt release many coins in one hit (and the referee is quite quick to review).
For other countries, even adding one coin, can take some time to get approved and would be good for others to see its there in the process of approval. I've seen a few forum entries recently showing some members are waiting for some time for approval, including one where a single coin was added by at least 3 members as they didnt see the others.
I tried to understand your last point about the race, but didnt get the point, could you give an example or some context? (it will help me to visualize/understand your point )

For example this note has the bare minimum information about it of course I’m not blaming anyone about it but for example someone has added slightly more descriptive information about the design then while it’s pending someone else sees the request and adds more information such as the translation. Later on the original person would adds something else such as a bit of history of what’s pictured and tags the it goes on and on and on. Hopefully that helps.

I guess I see that process as advantageous as it improves the quality with one approval rather than multiple ones where the referee is trying to compare separate new coin entries to merge the entries (and allows members to contribute to improve the entry whilst in draft - maybe more information became available after entry was created).
I think this idea is a very good improvement for Numista. Just as we can see the latest coins added to the Catalog, being able to see the new coins pending approval would be great for several reasons: the referees would avoid having several identical coins pending approval and users would not waste time adding coins that are already pending approval. Likewise, this would also be useful to be able to see if any country / issuer has excessive coins pending approval and to be able to give a solution.

Only if the users check first, otherwise the same old....
