Cita: "Some_Nerd"Is this similar to issuing entities for banknotes? Also, is this applicable to coins or just tokens and notgeld?
Yes, this is very similar to the issuing entity of banknotes (now renamed issuing bank for the sake of clarity). The issuing bank is intended for regular banknotes, whereas the new issuing entity is intended for tokens, medals, and notgeld, including notgeld banknotes like this one.

Thank you for the clarification. For the sake of symmetry in the catalog, perhaps issuing banks could be added for the coin section? I would imagine it would be useful for some issuers.

I don't have any specific examples in mind, I just thought that since the field existed for banknotes and exonunia, it wouldn't be that much more effort to add it to coins.

some examples:
In 1948 the german "Bank Deutscher Länder" was founded and issued the german Mark in 1948. The coins issued by "Bank Deutscher Länder" are referred to federal republic of germany who was founded 1949. Further DEM coins issued by the Federal Republic. Later the "Bank deutscher Länder" was renamed to "Deutsche Bundesbank" who issued the last DEM coin in 2001. Therefore in Federal Republic of Germany you have 3 issuers between 1948-2001.
German Banknotes always issued by Bank Deutscher Länder or Bundesbank
Just seeing this now. I think this is a very useful implementation.

One example I can think of is the pre-confederation bank tokens of Canada. Many were issued by various banks, including the Bank of Montreal, the Bank of Quebec, La Banque du Peuple (People's Bank), the City Bank (in Montreal), and the Bank of Upper Canada.
