Could "China Bank Note Printing & Minting Corporation, unknown branch, China" be added to the list of mints? This would be comparable to the unknown mint listing for Japan.

At the moment, I will keep a note for discussion on this but will reject for 3 reasons:

• it is not “unknown”, we just do not know which branch was used (most probably, the info is not available or is buried somewhere in reports or archives but not in main catalogues).
• if we go with “unknown”, we will rapidly end up with various unknown listings.
• it aligns with the cleaning about “unknown” entities, sub-issuers, etc.

 

Japan case is similar to first point: there are 3 branches, we don't know which one was used but we know all existing branches. I'll check this point.

Xavier made the unkown branch, I am nor sure if I asked him to make it, but as far as I remember I haven't used it and it could be deleted.

Exact. I've seen the original thread related to the 3 other branches.

 

Currently this unknown branch is not assigned to Japanese coins but is still linked with a dozen coins from other countries and one Japanese token. This shall be cleared before deleting the mint.
