UK crowns went from 25 pence to 5 pounds in 1990 I think... Man crowns remained valued at 25 pence until 2017, when they became equivalent to 5 pounds.

I am double checking Gibraltar dates...

A lady replied to an email that ALL Crown coins from there are 25 Pence.
Yes UK changed from 25 Pence Crowns to £5 Crown-sized.

So no - 2017 date does not matter, for Isle of Man coins -
it is all coins, up to / including / after 2022 dates.
In there is the IOM mint/government email address, so you can write to them for
confirmation if you wish. So a Crown from there will always be 0.25 value.
They do also issue £5 coins it says.

The statement from the official in that other forum is from 2012 and can't enforce a value on future crowns.

On the Isle of Man web site:
Home > About The Government > Departments > The Treasury > Financial Governance Division > Special Currency
https://www.gov.im/about-the-government/departments/the-treasury/financial-governance-division/special-currency/

Expand a year and look at the various crown coin "determination" documents. Every one I've opened has said the face value of a 1 Crown coin is 5 Pounds and fractions or multiple have a corresponding value. So at least some crowns from 2017 on have a face value of 5 Pounds/Crown and I find it hard to believe "1 Crown" coins issued in a year would have different values.
2017 and later dated crowns are legal tender for 5 pounds. And those that predate are legal tender on the island for 25 pence.

The statement from 2012 counters the argument that the crowns became worth 5 pounds in 1990. They did not.

Some may like to know that in the 3rd edition of "Coins of the Isle of Man" by Mike J Southall, it is confirmed that crowns dated 2017 and later are valued at 5 pounds while those with earlier dates are 25 pence.

This is how they will be listed on Numista.

I acknowledge that there are those who wish for more than expertise or country catalogs. And I think that is fine. Any member can visity www.tynwald.org.im and search and discover tons and tons of information on Manx coin law and banknote law. I specifically searched platina, crown, angel, and noble.
