It seems (unless I'm missing something) that we can't currently search for Chinese characters in the lettering of banknotes. I'm guessing this isn't a bug, rather something which has not been implemented. If that's the case, could this be considered as a future improvement? Other scripts, particularly those available from the special keyboards, would also be very useful.

I think I can see the problem. You've searched for entire phrases whereas I was searching for characters within a phrase. Presumably this causes the search to only look for those characters when they aren't part of a larger phrase, as if they were letters within a larger word. It makes sense given where the search has come from (i.e., the Latin script) but it is a little restrictive. Still, I can live with it.

It seem you have to have the exact characters of an entire line to get a hit and no less the two characters separated by some kind of space symbol.
For example if you search with '券銀換究行銀本日' you won't get a hit you would need to use
' 券銀換究行銀本日'.
I know I go overboard and against Numista design guidelines but I like my formatting and you are the first person I came across that searches for text on a banknote with hanzi/kanji.
I repeated the last search I did but with only the first few characters with the wildcard * at the end and it still worked. However using the wildcard at the beginning didn't work.
I tried this with Korean, and the same appear there. I had three search words: 한국 (Korea), 은행 (Bank) and 한국은행 (Bank of Korea) and these are the results:
Search word: 한국
Search word: 은행
Search word: 한국은행
In English, on the other hand, there is, of course, no problem in just searching for "Bank":

Search with Chinese and Korean characters has been implemented.
Unlike search in other languages which is done word by word (separated by spaces or punctuation), search with Chinese or Korean character now works character by character.
