How long does it take for a modify request to be accepted ? [Risolto]

Hello, I'm trying to provide better images for like 1500 banknotes, most of them are accepted in 1-2 days, but a few countries like Belarus, Mauritania, North Korea, Uzbekistan,Zimbabwe and several others take more than two weeks to be accepted or rejected. A lot of requests I made got rejected right away for the same countries. Even the difference between images I provide and current ones is huge, they get rejected with the excuse that there is no reason to change it.

Probably all referees should read this - Rules on picture replacement.

Best regards, Dean

Sometimes it takes 4-6 months for some requests to be approved.

The most a request took me was about 2 months.

Yes, this is my cat

Just for comparison, there are now 1420 requests site wide pending.

Ok I just give up. That user ngdawa keeps replacing images I have uploaded. Xavier accepts my uploaded images, and that user just removes them a few hours later……… Too bad a single user can do whatever he wants with numista. Anyways I'm stopping uploading images to countries he is referee of, until something changes.

I only know that some of the examples I saw where only marginally better then the current ones and he thought that you might just want to flood the catalog with your name. That's the only thing I remember about a question how to handle this situation. 🤷

There a lot of examples, not just a few. Most recent are from today.  But it doesn't matter already, I won't bother trying to improve images for countries he is a referee of anymore. And if you think uploading almost perfectly scanned images of banknotes, 2000px width, 600 dpi and perfectly cropped is a “flood” rather than improvement of the catalogue, then I might have understood the purpose of numista very wrong.

It was a while ago like I said that's only what I remember, I found the thread again and the examples are very high resolution now maybe it fell together with the implementation of the new messaging system and pictures weren't displayed correctly.

I am constantly working on the catalogues I am referee for to make them as accurate as possible. To keep changing pictures a little now and then seems like an endless effort of members. Yes, the pictures might be better, but a picture can only be so good, and if it's identifiable by the current picture, I don't really see the point in changing it.

I have also beenworking on new pictures to replace my old ones, since they have a background and watermark. I recently lost all the new pictures I mad and had to start over from scratch. In the meantime there came a lot of requests for the very same pictures, apparently, and these were accepted by Xavier sometime before I changed it as well. The tabs were already open, and since I didn't refresh the page before changing, I never realised the pictures were already changed. This is what could happen when people are taking action before contacting. Of course it looks bad, but sometimes the timing is just way off.

I never understood the reason for creating forum posts like this one. I have never done it myself, I rather contact the person I reckon is doing wrong and have a dialogue with that person directly. This is like gossiping in the lunch room, and I don't like it. Write me directly next time.

As I said, I'm done with it, I won't waste my time anymore changing your images, doesn't matter if they are good or bad. Topic closed. Just don't ignore anymore requests I make for other banknotes that you didn't upload images to. Keep up the good work 👍

I am no ignoring anything, but I do have a life outside of Numista as well. But, there are some requests that are more important changes that needs to be done than changing a perfectly good picture to another perfectly good picture.

These are my priorities:
- Adding new pages

- Errors/missing info in the basic data (size, weight, thickness, value, etc)

- Adding pictures (when there are none)

- Errors/missing obv/rev descriptions

- Adding missing years in the date line

- Adding composition

- Adding comments in the date line

- Adding watermark pictures (when there are none

- Watermark description

- Changing a picture to another picture

This means that the further down the list of priorities you are, the longer you might have to wait - depending on how many requests that are pending. Waiting 10 days (according to Xavier) for just changing a pictures is nothing. I have requests pending from April 16.
