Hi, I’ve been adding photographs to my Numista account of my coins and have come up now with you have reached your limit. I thought it may be due to size of space on iPad or iPhone but there is a lot of space. Should I not be adding images? Is this limit a numista set limit? Thanks

500 MB (10 GB with a Premium account)

By the way, do you think it may be a good idea to add some more space for photos for adding coins to the Numista catalog?

As far as I read we might get the ‘one set of pictures per year line’ feature in the future … this probably needs a new media server or at least a few new hard-drives.

This ideas works well in concept but this might become annoying on coins, notes and tokens with long year lines such as current US dollar bill or Victorian pennies just to name a few.

In my opinion there should be a search box that is visible on a page where coins, banknotes and token have 25 or more year lines, so users can skip to the date they own instead of getting bored and selected the first line they see. Alternatively there could be a on, off button in settings for the users that don’t want year line photos.🙂

Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.

It should definitely not be always shown (could be a loading nightmare), more on a separate page or smth. similar to a gallery.

But even if a page has a hundred lines it's not really a big problem as long as they have a legitimate reason to exist. Maybe for phone only users but personally I don't really care about that.

Hmm that could be a possibility. 🤔

…that last line is why I'm unlikely to ever use this: as far as I can tell, it means that if I ever run out (which probably won't take long; 500 MB is nowhere near enough to fit even my current collection) I wouldn't be able to add any more pics even by trying to clear up some space.

And since I expect that the best coins in my collection mostly hadn't been bought yet, I probably wouldn't actually do that, because there's just too much of a chance that I'd get something really awesome and then would be unable to actually upload a pic.

(I mean if I get something really awesome I could propose a picture of my coin as the main image for the page; this is one example where that worked. But that's probably not going to be the case very often, and I suspect that most of my awesome stuff would be more like “really rare coin but in horrible condition”.)

I really don't understand what you mean.  What I meant is that if you delete pictures from your allotted storage the space they occupy still counts in the 500 MB limit.  If you “empty the trash” then the space is recovered.

Oooh. So you meant that there's a special place that removed pictures go to (that they could presumably be recovered from?) and it doesn't actually qualify as deletion, and to actually delete you need an extra operation but it is in fact possible. That does make more sense.

(I kind of want to test it but I'm also afraid that my test pics would count again my total permanently)

Generally on some boards and forums, deleted images go to a deleted items section. Permanent deletion needs to be done by someone with admin rights.

Hello,

Pictures you attach to the items in your collection are limited to 500 MB for a regular account. With a premium subscription, the limit is increased to 10 GB: that's about 20 000 pictures (counting 500 KB per picture, which is already quite big or poorly compressed) or 10 000 coins. You can also attach PDF documents like an invoice or a certificate.

Pictures added to the catalogue (the picture at the top of a coin or banknote page in the catalogue) don't count in this quota. Pictures on the forum don't count either.

You can review all the pictures attached to your collection on the following page:

https://en.numista.com/vous/pictures.php

The page is also accessible via the link “Manage my picture storage” at the bottom of the page “My coins”. You'll also see how much space is used and how much space is remaining.

When you remove a picture from an item in your collection or when you upload a picture but you don't save, the picture is still stored on Numista and visible on the aforementioned page with the status “deleted”. You have an option “Empty the trash bin” to permanently delete all such pictures. You can also delete any picture even if it's still attached to your collection. This way you could clear completely your storage space if needed.
