Hi,

I was just browsing the ID forum when I noticed something “missing”: there wasn't supposed to have some stickied topics at the top of all other ID topics? Like the “guideline foi ID requests” that we sometimes indicate to newcomers in that part of the forum.

I saw that it happened on the other forums as well, so I ask if this was some change made by the website staff.

Another thing I noticed is the “Please read the forum policy before posting”, I don't remember seeing this yesterday.

Thanks.

The content is now on top of the text editor.

“Please read the forum policy before posting.”

Exact, this has been made on purpose. Forum policy, Sales policy and Identifications guidelines are now all gathered on one page (hosted in the FAQ section of Numista).

As you noticed, the link to the policies is now visible at top of any new thread when created, and it is also available at the bottom of the forum section pages.

Si c'est un grand plaisir d'être reconnu par ses amis, c'est peut-être encore plus flatteur d'être reconnu par ses adversaires.
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

Thanks for the clarifications.

that is at the end of one random forum.

If it is now wanted to be kept there then fine -

but why not put those three at the top as well? Just below the New topic button -

especially something as important the Forum policy 😔

I agree, since it was so easy to copy from where it was into a “demand for help” topic, now not so much so!

Ehm, you can literally copy paste it while you are typing it.

And let's be honest, a person that doesn't read it there also wont read a sticky thread or a link on top of the forum page.

Ehm, ehm, no, I need it when answering to users not using the procedure

that's the difference, you see.

You also have it here, if you slightly extend your screenshot

Right you are, I just never noticed it!

Most of the time only this part is of interest:

Identification and valuation request guidelines

The Numista forum has a section dedicated to requests for identifications and valuations through which any member can ask for help from other members of the site.

In order to facilitate requests and maintain a certain order within this section of the forum, any request for identification or valuation must respect the following directives:

  • Requests for identifications or valuations must be published on the dedicated forum Coin identifications and valuations.
  • Each request should be done through a new thread.
  • Put an explicit title like "Ancient Coin - Roman?" “, “Elizabeth silver coin”, etc. Do not use generic terms such as "Help!" “, “Coin”, “Identification”, etc.
  • In the content of your message, describe the subject and include any information you have:
    • Specify the weight, the dimensions and, if known, the composition.
    • Indicate what you can read in the coin.
    • Describe the drawing as well as any information that might be helpful.
  • Attach a clear photo of sufficient size of each side of the coin.

When an identification is obtained, click on the "Solved" button at the top of the thread. Then click on the "Edit" icon (icon with a pencil) of your original message to modify the title with the identification obtained. Again, keep a brief title such as "Roman Denarius Hadrian and Libertas", "5 pounds UK 1996", etc.

On most of other websites the first topic is “Read this before posting”.

It's a pity to see again and again some threads as this ONE , and this member is on Numista for two years …

So it's great to see “read the forum policy before posting” when you submit a new thread but it's a bit late the message is already open and the guy will not read the policy before posting.

Ole is constantly repeating : Only one coin, two good pictures, diameter and weight … in the end, he will get tired of always repeating the same thing 🤨

So something is missing.

- The first thread of the coin and identification forum should be : “Obligatory : Read this before posting”

- As proposed by Giovanni, some indication under the new topic button

- For the dizzy you might repeat the main guidlines when posting on the identification forum :
