Hello Numista members.

First of all, thank all of you who dedicate yourselves to making this website a better place every day. Even so, there are always things to improve, such as the fact that many of us do not have English as our mother language, not to mention that we need the google translator to write these words, but we have to have the list of countries in English , when my collection is sorted by country but it doesn't match because it's sorted in Catalan, my humble language, in which Czechoslovakia is at the end of my collection because in my language it's written with T (Txecoslovàquia). So my request would be to add some kind of way to write each country in my language so that it would automatically order it for me as I have them in my albums.

I agree that for the English interface is inconvenient for non-English speakers. In my language the name of Germany starts with V, the name of Poland with L and so on… For English speakers this is exotic, but for me these names are normal.

On the other hand, I understand that it would be very difficult for the creators of the website to add (and even more to maintain) such features.

Still you can export you collection which you have registered here on Numista and then modify the Excel file so as you want.

Also note that this website has competitors – although they lack many features, at least one of them has Catalan interface. ;)

My native language isn't English either, but I decided to organize my collection by the English country name long before I joined Numista: the best paper catalogues for world coins were in English, and so were the first digital catalogues on world coins.

My motto: if you're interests go world-wide, and you want to communicate world-wide, then do it in English. It's the easiest for all of us, not just to the native speakers of English. Just accept that English has won this race.

What was done recently is that current countries are searchable by their native names. Sadly, it would be quite herculean task to include all countries in all languages.

It is very good to add language options to the web, especially with languages with 500 million speakers, but it is not my solution, I use Spanish to speak with my wife who is from another Spanish region, but not with my son I know how to speak to him if it's not in Catalan, just like the order of my collection. In addition, the list is in English.

Nothing very complicated:
From the Spanish site, you export your collection to your Catalan computer
in xlsx xls or csv format to an American application such as Excel, OpenOffice or LibreOffice which are provided in several languages including Catalan
Creating a small search/replace macro will allow you to translate the 2 or 3 columns that are not numbers into the language of your choice: Catalan, Galician, Basque, Gypsy, Asturian, Aranese Aragonese, etc.
then sort them
