Help sought for Swedish text on Finnish banknote

Pubblicazioni di 7 • visto 93 volte

Hi all.

I am seeking assistance from someone familiar with Swedish to type and translate the Swedish text on this Finnish banknote:
N#331187

The text suffers slightly from being in a script font (I hate script fonts in unfamiliar languages), and possibly a bit archaic.

I have already typed and translated the same text in Finnish. The translation should be the same for the Swedish, but if I is not, please flag it.

What is script font, do you mean cursive?

Yes.

I would correct the first word to “For” (or possibly “Against” as this is a more literal translation).

Former Numista referee for banknotes from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Saint Helena.

Yes, a quick look at google translate suggests ‘Against’, but that doesn't work in Finnish (the case endings are quite specific)! However, on these earlier notes Swedish was the first language, Finnish second, and Russian third.

I changed Swedish translation to 'Against'

I will refer the Finnish to a friend for ‘colloquiality’ to see if ‘against’ would be ok there also.

I assume it's the text Emot denna sedel betalar FINLANDS BANK vid anfordran en summa af HUNDRA Mark i silfver you are talking about. I would probablt re-arrange the sentece and translate it to: The Bank of Finland will on pay on demand the sum of One Hundred Mark in silver. Or if you want it more litterally it would be: In excange of this note the Bank of Finland will pay by demand the sim of One Hundred Mark in silver.

NOTE: I excluded the plural s in the denomination as there is none plural form of the currency name in Swedish.

Thanks for that translation. I will adjust the listings to use it.
