Hi

Please add letter “Њ” to the Cyrillic alphabet dropdown menu. Used in Serbia and Macedonia. In Latin its written as "NJ".

Thanks!

Please also add Ѡ, Ѧ, Ѯ, Ѳ, Ѩ, Ѣ and ҂

There is also letters Ђ and Џ missing, among others. I remember creating a forum post to add a couple of missing Cyrillic letters, but I can't view since it is probably in Referees' forum

This has been requested a few times (including here) so hopefully it will happen soon.

Hello,

I don't know much about the Cyrillic alphabet. Can you please suggest how the Cyrillic keyboard should look like (which letters should be added and in which order)?

Here is the current layout:

Here are Latin/Serbian Cyrillic letters.

АаБбЦцЧчЋћДдЏџЂђЕеФфГгХхИиЈјКкЛлЉљМмНнЊњОоПпРрСсШшТтУуВвЗзЖж

Serbian specific letters missing in Russian Cyrillic letters are:

  • Č č = Ч ч
  • Ć ć = Ћ ћ
  • Dž dž = Џ џ
  • Nj nj = Њ њ

As I am no scholar in this field and however I merge these “extra” letters into the Russian Cyrillic, its probably going to be pretty unprofessional. I will do it anyway, and then someone with more understanding can rearrange the list more properly. Here are general proposals:

Scenario 1 - just add the Serbian Cyrillic letters as separate letters/lettering (preferred option):

АБЦЧЋДЏЂЕФГХИЈКЛЉМНЊОПРСШТУВЗЖ

абцчћдџђефгхијклљмнњопрсштувзж

Scenario 2 - adding Serbian specific letters at the end (not fond of):

АБВГДЕЖЗИЙКЈЛЉМНОПРСТУФХЦЧШЩЪЫЬЭЮЯЧЋЏЊ

абвгдежзийкјлљмнопрстуфхцчшщъыьэюячћџњ

Scenario 3 - adding Serbian specific letters “unprofessionally” somewhere in between (also not fond of):

АБВГДЏЕЖЗИЙКЈЛЉМНЊОПРСТУФХЦЧЋЧШЩЪЫЬЭЮЯ

абвгдџежзийкјлљмнњопрстуфхцчћчшщъыьэюя

Some more other Cyrillic letter types may emerge (eg. Bulgarian Й й, Ю ю), then such mix list can get straightforward ugly. I would propose to stay with Scenario 1 - separate Serbian lettering. Also less typos along the way, when not mixing different letters.

I just closed the thread in the referee forum to gather the discussion here.

That thread mentioned the following letters:

Ђ - ђ
Њ - њ
Џ - џ
Ћ - ћ

Ѓ - ѓ
Ќ - ќ
Ѕ - ѕ

Ґ - ґ
Ї - ї
І - і
Є - є
Ў - ў
Қ - қ
Ӯ - ӯ
Ғ - ғ
Ҳ- ҳ
Ҷ - ҷ
Ӣ - ӣ
Ү- ү
Ө - ө
Ң - ң

I'm not fond of the option 1. It means we would have one keyboard entry for each Cyrillic alphabet (Serbian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Macedonian, early Cyrillic…?), which would be confusing for non-experts (who are the intended audience for these special keyboards).

Maybe we could have a variation of the option 2, with Serbian-specific letters on a separate line.

This way we can add more Cyrillic letters: line 3 is for Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, and Montenegrin; line 4 is for Ukrainian and Belarusian; line 5 is for Kazakh, Uzbek and Mongolian; line 6 is for early Cyrillic.

OK, I didn't see this as a possible solution. Many thanks!

Hello,

As there was no other feedback, I implemented as described in my last message. (I only made because the line for Kazakh, Uzbek and Mongolian was just 1 letter too long to fit on a line: I split it into two lines and moved it up for aesthetic purpose.)

More reason why a separate line titled ‘Language’ is necessary for each listing.

Aidan.

Thank you!!!
