Hi

See left part of the picture (below). Selection Country=Slovenia, Filter/Reference=Mandić, Display=reference.

See right part of the picture are hits for the same tokens, just not having Mandic reference as the first reference.

It seems that displaying as shown on left part of the picture does not properly include hits with selected reference in case this reference is not listed at first place on the page of the token.

Numista works as intended, you can only make change requests to switch the positions of the references.

I find it pretty hard to accept this, if I have choosen an explicit reference to get search results. What is then the value of having second, third, and so one values of reference, if there is no way to search by it (no pun intended)?

Does the result eventually show those coins? If so then it's working as expected.

It would be nice to have Display Options order by reference extended to select a reference.

Yes they are shown eventually on other (multiple page search results) pages, but not before all kind of other hits are included (some also with no selected reference). And still once again, If I have selected country and reference, then these two parameters are to be expected in the search results only (and nothing else). I would also expect the search results to be displayed by "increasing" reference number order (even if selected reference is placed on any other spot on coin page not equal to first spot).

Here is a case of this, country=Slovenia, reference=Schön, display by reference:

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?e=slovenie&r=&ct=coin&im1=&im2=&tb=y&tc=y&tn=y&tp=y&tt=y&cat=y&ru=&ca=377&no=&v=&i=&b=&d=&u=&a=&dg=&m=&f=&t=&w=&mt=&g=&se=&c=&wi=&sw=

As you may see, search results do not show only “Schön” reference, as clearly selected.

You will need an ‘*’ in the field where you would normally type a number for a specific reference. For instance: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?e=slovenie&r=&ct=coin&im1=&im2=&tb=y&tc=y&tn=y&tp=y&tt=y&cat=y&ru=&ca=24&no=*&v=&i=&b=&d=&u=&a=&dg=&m=&f=&t=&w=&mt=&g=&se=&c=&wi=&sw= shows all coins from Schön.

Hi

Thanks, this helps to some extent, regarding my initial question (see here). But tokens are still not sorted by reference, if the reference from search parameter is not on first place on coin page. Further more, for "more proper" search result display, I have added zeros in references, where there are more than ten varieties (algorithm for displaying results does not count numbers after the dot, if it exists). I hope this is acceptable workaround:

Hello,

I made some improvements to the order by reference.

  • There is no need to add zeros. Numbers are sorted in the natural order: 1.1, 1.2, 1.100 (and not 1.1, 1.100, 1.2).
  • If you search for all the coins in a given catalogue (by typing “*” in the field for the number), the order is based on the number in that catalogue, independently of the position of the number in the list of references of each coin.

See for example: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?e=slovenie&r=&ct=exonumia&ca=656&no=*&o=k
