Need help identifying handstamp on a Montenegrin 1 Perper banknote

Pubblicazioni di 5 • visto 92 volte

I recently bought a Montenegrin 1 Perper banknote from 1914 and noticed there was a hand stamp on it. I did some research and found out it was issued by the Military Government District Command. I can't tell which city this note was stamped in however. I was hoping to find out which city this was issued in, the purpose of why they were stamped, and the value of the note. Any help would be much appreciated!

Website where I found the handstamp info: http://www.banknote.ws/COLLECTION/countries/EUR/MNG/MNG.htm

Looks like an Austro-Hungarian military handstamp.

Did some research and from the site you sent this looks to me like a general government kreisskomando stamp, basically Austro-Hungarian occupation. Each city had a stamp with the city's name on it being the only difference for all of them (Cetinje, Podgorica, Nikšić etc.)

Ah, so the stamps are all the same except for the city name. I just hope I can get the name off the stamp, it's pretty hard to see. Would anyone also happen to know the approximate value of the note too? I wonder if it's worth more stamped or unstamped.

Regarding stamps on banknotes. Usually they increase value. But more important is the condition of the banknote. I have some ww2 german banknotes with stamps on them which are more rare than nonstamped. Typically these are Wehrmacht occupation banknotes or similar others. You just need to make sure that stamp is genuine and not just some random strike with cheap AliExpress seal. Usually you should buy these kind of banknotes from reputable coins or banknotes shop and never from ebay
