King George VI's reign in India can be divided into 2 parts;
1936 to 1947 as Emperor of India - as India was in itself an empire within the British Empire.
From August 1947, King George VI was both King of India & King of Pakistan.
On 26 January 1950, the Dominion of India ceased to exist, & the Republic of India was declared in its place - therefore, King George VI was no longer India's head of state.
He remained King of Pakistan though right through to his death on 6 February 1952 - then Queen Elizabeth II became Queen of Pakistan from 1952 to 1956, when the Dominion of Pakistan ceased to exist, & the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was declared in its place.
