I can't find them. I found the polish getto notes. Does anyone know if they're listed?

Sean O

I can't find them.

Did you find them?

They deserve to be listed under ‘Banknotes’.

Aidan.

Ah, but where are they currently - I can't find them!

Thanks!

I agree bcnumismatics. For some reason the polish notes are in banknotes except for the 1 mark…that is in exonumia with the theresienstadt notes.🤷‍♂️ in my opinion they should all be moved to the banknote section.

The vote in the thread on the Łódź Ghetto notes, https://en.numista.com/forum/topic128644.html is currently narrowly in favour of keeping them in banknotes.

I think these ghetto notes are quite similar to notgeld in nature, putting them in the banknotes section.

I will update my pictures tomorrow so they follow the Numista Guidelines. I just read that the Łódź Ghetto notes will stay in the main banknote catalogue. Will these be moved there as well? All Ghetto notes should be treated the same, I reckon.

As a result of the vote to keep Łódź Ghetto notes in banknotes, I sent a move request for the Łódź Ghetto note in Exonumia to be moved to banknotes.

Its layout is similar to that of the other Łódź Ghetto notes, so the original listing under Exonumia might have been a filing error rather than intent.

All Ghetto notes should be listed like Notgeld anyway.

No matter where the ghetto notes are being placrd, all ghetto notes should be placed together.  We cannot split them up and have some ghetto notes in the Banknote catalogue and some in the Exonumia catalogue. The Theresienstadt was moved from the Banknote catalogie to the Exonumia catalogue. Make up your minds!

@ngdawa
Who are you addressing this comment to.
Everyone here who has expressed an opinion on the matter agrees that these Ghetto notes should be in banknotes. As such, there are no minds to be made up.

Your previous post in this thread suggests that you are aware of the thread which asked the question on where the Łódź Ghetto notes should be placed. A discussion and a vote showed a majority in favour of having them in banknotes, which you allude to.

These shoikd clearly be in Exonumia and labelled as “Local currency” (or whatever the term is). By placing these in the main catalogue will result in moving a lot from Exonumia back to the Banknote catalogue, since the criteria for what's exonumia has changed.

Lately you are just moving things back and forth without any plan or thought of what is means in the long run. This is why I tell you guys to calm down, make a long term plan, and then work from that. Pages are being split and merged with the same arguments, and now banknotes are being moved from the Exonumia catalogue with basically the same arguments that was used to put them there in the first place. Why the hysteria?

As far as I can see, the only hysteria in this thread is presently coming from yourself.

The nature of the Ghetto notes was discussed calmly in the thread ‘Should notes issued in the Łódź Ghetto be in banknotes or in Exonumia?‘ https://en.numista.com/forum/topic128644.html

That thread poses a very simple question.
I note that you did not post any opinion in that thread.

In the thread poll, running from 23.01 to 13.02, there were 9 votes in favour of 'Banknotes' and 3 votes in favour of 'Exonumia'.

I did not vote in the poll, as I had a neutral opinion.

I consider this poll result sufficient to request the move of the Łódź Ghetto note currently in Exonumia to banknotes, where the others are located.

As there is no referee for Polish Exonumia, Admin will decide on whether or not to move the note to banknotes.

If admin decides to reject the move, then I will immediately move the Łódź Ghetto notes from banknotes to Exonumia.

No hysteria, just an orderly progression of steps which will arrive at a considered conclusion.

The argument that the Łódź Ghetto notes are similar in nature to notgeld is a good one, imho, which cannot be simply dismissed out of hand. A discussion for another topic, perhaps.

My interest in this is to arrive at a solution where all of the Łódź Ghetto notes are in the same location.

There will be lots of fun with the nature of 'local notes' in the future, I expect.

Except that, at least in the case of Poland, most Polish banknote collectors consider Lodz-ghetto banknotes as banknotes and not as exonumia.

This may be different in varying countries - but I tend to believe the Numista catalogue should follow the sentiment of the local (the country it pertains to) coin and banknote community, which is why Hibernia followed the results of the poll on the Lodz ghetto thread.

It may be useful to have a larger guiding principle for referees, but as for the case for Poland - classifying Lodz ghetto banknotes follows what was done for ghetto coins (and for wartime coinage outside the ghetto).

Thanks

As do auction houses, both Polish and foreign (www.ha.com for example).

I agree also that numista should follow the way in which banknotes and coins are collected and catalogued by the collectors of that country.

I don't reckon a members' poll will suffice. If questions like “Is this a banknote or an exonumia” shoukd be determibed by members, the catalogue will be a true disaster. Never before have these questions been solved by a poll with 9 votes. Xavier and the admins decuded to put Thereseienstadt banknotes in Exonunia. 9 random memebers voted to have Łódź ghetto banknites in the banknote catalogue. Will we have a vote every year, or how does these votings work?

As there is no referee for Polish Exonumia, Admin will decide on whether or not to move the note to banknotes.

As I said, Admin will decide on where the  Łódź Ghetto notes go.
