Hi

Probably many are going to laugh or wonder, but still. Would it be possible to use GPT4 for coin descriptions? There could be a additional field with GPT4 description. I take a bet, that most of these descriptions would be eventually better than human produced ones.

I am not some compgeek, so I don't know if this AI is publicly available.

Already in consideration. :)

There are many more ways AI could help Numista, and we shall discuss them once GPT4 is publicly availlable - which it is not for now.

It is available, you just have to pay for it. But I wouldn't use it other than for suggestions.

But personally I used Google Glass to identify an object on a banknote that was just described very vague in a catalog and it had no problem with it.

I strongly disagree.

We should work to provide the web with good reliable info verified by humans.

Not text produced by an algorithm should be added on the web (BTW, I am in the field of computer science and know what is for real artificial intelligence and many excellent applications.

I assume that the result will be an echoing and amplification of wrong info. In some case I discovered that someone (in some cases a standard catalogue) provided a wrong description of a coin, and now this wrong description is in many places

I mean that something in between at the moment would or could be only profitable. The proposals could also be issued to referees at the “Catalogue improvement hints” site. The general public would have literally very little contact directly. And I also agree on most of the proposals being assessed by referees, before validation.

If AI will ever write description on Numista page, it would be noted on the page, so users can see that that particular description was not written by human.

There are several more possible ways how AI could help Numista, lets see how it will develop. :)

I’m already looking forward to cyprusalexander’s posts about “fake this” and “mistake that” and all the “spoilage” this AI will bring 😄😄😄

They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...
