Recently I click on button “All read” instead of on “Search” and all topics of the forum “Numista website” in English was mark as read.😢
In the past, this situation happened to someone else (@Essor Prof, https://en.numista.com/forum/topic52946.html), not just me!
Can anything be done to avoid unintentionally clicking “Mark all topics as read” link or “All read” button in the forum?
I never use this button (once by mistake) but many members use this button, so it must be something that does not involve extra clicks. I write some solutions, maybe one of them can be accepted.
- Confirm the click → REJECTED
It was my first suggestion (Can be added a confirm on this button and on the link at the bottom of the page?).
It involve an extra click in each use, and was published by @Essor Prof on 2016 in a rejected suggestion.
- Move the “All read” button away from the “Search” button
@g00n uses this button but replied with this solution.
I see a problem (how far to move these buttons away?), and this may disrupt the design of the website.
- Confirm the click, with a “Don't show me this message again” checkbox
@radrick007 also uses this button and replied with this solution.
This reduce the number to extra click to two on the first use, to members than use this button. However, this still involves two extra clicks on the first use.
- Confirm the click, with an option on the “My account settings” page to disable the confirmation
Add to the “My account settings” page a “Confirm before mark all topics as read” checkbox, not selected by default:- A member who frequently uses this button and likes it, does nothing. The new checkbox is not selected and everything works as usual.
- A member who does not use (unless mistaken) this button, must go to the “My account setting” page and select the new checkbox. When this member clicks the “Mark all topics as read” link or the “All read” button, a confirmation message is displayed.
- Option on the “My account settings” page to hide “All read” button
Add to the “My account settings” page a “Hide ‘All read’ button” checkbox, not selected by default (in any case, the “Mark all topics as read” link is always displayed at the bottom):- A member who frequently uses this button and likes it, does nothing. The new checkbox is not selected and everything works as usual.
- A member who does not use (unless mistaken) this button, must go to the “My account setting” page and select the new checkbox. The button at the top will be hidden, and the link at the bottom remain visible.
- Other?
