I came across these in the past week. It is part of the set in the book published by the bank of China. I could not figure out what they were and the dealer that showed the book to me didn't know what they were either. They are some sort of miniature of the originals but I could not tell what they were made of. He offered the whole book to me for $200 Canadian. I declined but they were cute.

I  have a friend who says that in the chinese dscription, it mentions that they are made of silver--he says Canadian $200 is a bargain price

Too bad, I was in Toronto last week and I am now back home in Calgary. The dealer is semi-retired. He only ever went to coin shows in Hong Kong. Someone had told him he could get $2000 for it. He never found the person to buy it. I have all the notes in the book so was not interested. Although, all the same serial number is neat. Also, by the display of them in the book, you could not see the reverse. The ethnic groups on the front are beautiful but the scenes on the reverse are just as interesting. If I go visit my sister again I will look him up and see if he still has it.
