Looking for East German 200 and 500 Mark banknotes

Pubblicazioni di 4 • visto 125 volte

I've been looking for these two notes for a long while but they just don't turn up in Canada. I've gotten some coins and banknotes to trade for (my collection extends past what is on my Swaplist, I just made this account and am adding to it still). Send some offers my way if at all interested and let me know what you'd want in return (be it on the Swaplist or not).

I was lucky that I bought these two notes in UNC condition back in 2007 for US$22 each from a US dealer via eBay. I am not sure if it was valued for money then or they are worth that much now either.

Good luck to your hunting!

I bought a nice pair for $18 each last year. ($18 NZD = $10.50USD - our peso has lost a lot of value)

Don't want to sell them, but now at least you can see them (The pictures enlarge).

Rumour on these, is that the government printed several million of them in 1985 for release into circulation, but then decided such values were too high and would encourage capitalist and decadent bourgeois notions of wealth, so hence they weren't and many of them were hidden in caves until they were found some time after 2000. Most are in great shape, but will have some light rot/mould from being in a cave for 20 years!

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

You have bought them cheap. I paid for mine back in 2007 in UNC condition for US$22 each. At that time the exchange rate was US$0.86.
