The new split guidelines are an improvement, but additional links should be added. The splitting encourages people to focus on specific segments, which can draw them away from a global view of the guidelines.
For example, it was mentioned in the discussion on the new guidelines that the individual sections don't specify that British English is preferred. Someone only reading the sections could miss that information.
I suggest these additions:
- Each segment of the guidelines should link to main Guidelines for the Numista catalogue page to encourage looking at rest of the guidelines.
- Each segment on modifying a text field (most of the add/modify sections) should link to General guidelines for all texts page.
- These links should be on the individual pages, and also in the pop-up which appears when clicking a question mark while adding or editing.
- The search box should appear in many more places, not just the main Documentation centre. I would at least put it on the Guidelines for the Numista catalogue and all of the “Add or modify a WHATEVER in the catalogue” pages. Make it easier to find specific information.
