A number of times when we're reading rating feedback on someone's profile, both sides are found accusing each other; one person is accusing of cheating and the other one insisting that he clearly mentioned it in a message earlier. It's very unfair and unjust to one of them who was not at fault. It's not easy for readers to discover whose mistake it actually was.

In such cases where it can be discovered who the innocent party was by reading their message, Numista must intervene and award full rating to the person who did his due diligence by fully explaining/ notifying/ showing pictures etc.

While this could be a lot of work for the team, imagine how encouraging it would be for those members who are swapping with complete honesty. This will also make the website more transparent and stopping the innocent from being unjustly penalized.

If this cannot be done then there should be an option of making the messages of both sides public, at the request of the either side in case of a dispute.

It would be simply astonishing to see this critical reform being voted out.

Hello,

It's rarely as simple as you describe it. Swap issues usually result of mis-understanding and/or different expectations. Numista is not here to judge such situations, and I don't want to take this role.

Even if some unfair ratings are received, it won't have a big impact for fair members, who will only seldomly receive bad ratings, and they have the option to post a public reply to the rating.

Regarding your last suggestion, disclosing private messages is illegal in France and other countries.

Thank you for your detailed reply. The reason for this suggestion os that I have started a journey on this website only recently and if I face a person who isn't being totally honest and rates me down unfairly, it will be detrimental for me if I get low rating in the beginning. Other members will surely like to avoid a deal with me even though I mention everything clearly and meticulously in the messages so this resulting in low rating for me is very unjust.

There's got to be some solution for that.

There is always two sides in a conflict but if I see how you conduct yourself here, I can't help but thinking that the fault isn't entirely with the other party you're dealing with. A part of the solution you're looking for is diplomacy, that is an important skill in making swaps. Of course, we haven't done a swap, so I don't know for sure how you negotiate, but if I look at your forum posts, I'm reluctant to start a swap with you.

You ventilate strong opinions on what should be possible on Numista and how ridiculous it is when things won't get fixed (https://en.numista.com/forum/topic132838.html), you impose your morality on the community about nudity (https://en.numista.com/forum/topic132892.html) but also ask questions that other people perceive as inappropiate (https://en.numista.com/forum/topic131378.html). For me, those kind of posts are red flags and I'm quite sure I'm not the only one.

Whenever I am tempted to react on the forum, I always have this sentence in my head: “Your opinions are like your genitals. You have them, but you shouldn't bother other people with them”.

Do what you will with this, it's just some thoughts I had :-)

They say "Pecunia non olet", but I know better...

I wouldn't react or refute to your post, would only comment that in trying to judge me, you have just demonstrated your own double standards.

You claim that opinions are like genitals and one should keep them to themselves but it didn't stop you from issuing a self-made charge sheet against me.

Oh and please send me a directive, according to which I will initiate my posts next time. 🙂

You're asking for a solution, so that led me to respond. As I said, do with it what you will 🙂

Thank you for your input but it's not just me, you see.

It's all over Numista's feedback section, people are accusing each other. I am also concerned myself because if I get a wrongful bad rating in the beginning of my journey, it will be quite detrimental.

I agree, I've noticed some very strong topics which could have been avoided on numista.
