Why does Alderney have different years for the Pound Sterling to Guernsey?

I think that they should both be the same.

Alderney's coins should only be listed under the Decimal Pound.

You are correct - the Guernsey & Jersey Pounds are pegged at 1 to 1 with the Pound Sterling - as the Channel Islands & the Isle of Man remain in a currency union with the U.K..

Aidan.

It looks that the only one Alderney banknote listed on Numista is from 1810. Maybe this was simply copied from UK Pound.

Just let me know what the dates should be, and I will amend them.

Alderney and Guernsey should be the same.
They are the same political entity. A note-issuing bank was opened on Alderney in 1810 which failed shortly thereafter.

The earliest Guernsey note that we have is 1808 (GN02, with an example of GN01 dated 1809).

N#338916

I am away from my books at the moment, so cannot check the earliest known date for Guernsey, though it is probably 1808 as I have revised this early section quite thoroughly with reference to the catalogues [McCammon, scwpm] and auction offerings.

This would be a good opportunity to correct Guernsey’s currency date brackets also.

Date bracket for the currency of Alderney and Guernsey:
Pound: 1808-1971.
Pound decimalised: 1971-date.

Thank you! I just unified those.
